★~ Stick Out Your Tongue Day:

Did you know that you cannot stick your tongue out and look up at the ceiling at the same time?

But, today, you can stick it out at anyone and everyone because it’s Stick Out Your Tongue Day! If someone annoys you, go ahead and stick your tongue out at them. It’s especially fun to do this to crying children in the grocery store or to make this gesture behind someone’s back … and if someone call’s you immature, you know what to do!  ;-p

★~National Daiquiri Day:

It’s National Daiquiri Day! The drink many people associate with author Ernest Hemingway was, in fact, invented in 1898 by an engineer named Jennings Stockton Cox in the small iron mining town of Daiquiri near Santiago, Cuba. Ernest Hemingway did inspire the creation of the frozen Daiquiri at El Floridita, a restaurant in Havana. In Islands  in the Stream, he wrote: “This frozen daiquiri, so well beaten as it is, looks like the sea where the wave falls away from the bow of a ship when she is doing thirty knots.” No matter who  invented it, I plan to have a frozen strawberry daiquiri today, with a pink umbrella, and let my tongue savor the taste. Cheers!

★~ Did You Know:

♥~ 85% of the population can curl their tongue into a tube.

♥~ We have four basic tastes. The salt and sweet taste buds are at the tip of the tongue, bitter at the base, and sour along the sides.

♥~ Not all our taste buds are on our tongue; about 10% are on the palette and the cheeks.

♥~ Every person has a unique tongue print.

♥~ Taste is the weakest of the five senses.

♥~ If you suck on an ice cube before you eat a food you don’t like, you won’t notice the bad taste. Try it next time you have to take medicine that you can’t stand!

♥~ We are born with about 10,000 taste buds.

♥~ Your tongue is the only muscle in your body that is only attached at one end.

♥~ Stephen Taylor (UK) has a tongue that measures 9.5 cm (3.74 in) from the tip to the centre of his closed top lip.

♥~ The tube-lipped nectar bat (Anoura fistulata) can launch its tongue one and a half times its body length, longer than any other mammal and second only to chameleons among vertebrates

★~ Today’s Giggle:

In honor of stick out your tongue day I thought we would get it our tongues ready for game mode with few warm up tongue twisters.

I’m not the pheasant plucker, I’m the pheasant plucker’s mate,
And I’m only plucking pheasants ’cause the pheasant plucker’s late.
I’m not the pheasant plucker, I’m the pheasant plucker’s son,
And I’m only plucking pheasants till the pheasant pluckers come.

Theophilus Thadeus Thistledown,
The successful thistle-sifter,
While sifting a sieve-full of unsifted thistles,
Thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of his thumb.
Now, if Theophilus Thadeus Thistledown,
The successful thistle-sifter,
Thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of his thumb,
See that thou, while sifting a sieve-full of unsifted thistles,
Thrust not three thousand thistles through the thick of thy thumb.
Theophilus Thistle, the successful thistle sifter,
In sifting a sieve full of unsifted thistles,
Thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of his thumb.
If Theophilus Thistle, the successful thistle sifter,
Can thrust three thousand thistles through the thick of his thumb,
See thou, in sifting a sieve full of unsifted thistles,
Thrust not three thousand thistles through the thick of thy thumb.

  1. I actually try to stick my tounge out and look at the ceiling at the same time. I guess I tried it too long I didn’t notice that my boss and few other people were standing in front of my desk looking at me.
Strawberry daiquri for a sweet treat tonight!!! Yeah!! 🙂

  2. A frozen Daiquiri sounds divine. How early can we start? My tongue is twisted and its not even noon!

    Cheers!
