★~ Today’s Quote: Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Albert Einstein

★~ Temporary Insanity Day:

Today, a jury acquitted Daniel E. Sickles,  controversial New York congressman and future Civil War general of murdering his wife’s lover, the son of the composer of “The Star-Spangled Banner by successfully using for the first time the  temporary insanity defense (1859).

And what makes this Insanity Day?  Not the fact that he won–but the fact that politicians have been getting away with murder for years!!

Need help celebrating insanity day…check out “Did you know” for a few ideas most of you won’t need.

★~ Chocolate Mint Day:

Mint and chocolate were made for each other. A burst of refreshing peppermint, spearmint, or crème de menthe combined with the smooth, rich taste of chocolate is a truly unique pairing.

Some of the most famous chocolate mint inventions include mint chocolate cake, Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies, grasshopper martinis, mint chocolate soap and lip balm, Andes after-dinner mints, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

To celebrate Chocolate Mint Day, snack on a piece of your favorite chocolate mint candy, enjoy a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream, or drop a candy cane into a steaming cup of hot cocoa!

♥~  Have a fork fight with yourself and claim that the winning hand cheated and defiled your house’s honor.

♥~ When someone says something you don’t like, look them straight in the eyes and say, “We don’t like that.”

♥~ Write ‘sexual favors’ in the memo space on your checks.

♥~ When the money comes out of the ATM, scream “I Won!, I Won!”

♥~ Pick random times during the day to announce that reindeers aren’t real.

Cole (my teen) leaves for New Mexico this morning to visit his grandparents; he took his first solo trip to visit his grandparents when he was about seven — the trip fell over President’s day and when Cole asked his grandmother what they were going to do to celebrate St. Bush’s Day, my mother knew (despite the more liberal leanings of his mother) that Cole was going to turn out just fine and that he must spend every St. Bush’s day with his grandparents. I know! What can I do? It’s hard to compete when they feed him three meals a day!

My pups and campers will keep me company this week. Cole is turning 16 at the beginning of March, so I may also use the time to do a little birthday present research. A car is in our future, but what kind of car is still being discussed.

If you would like to see the video I took of Cole’s 10th grade play Metamorphosis, click on this Vimeo link and enter the password Waldorf.  I have permission to share the video with a password but cannot put the video up in a public forum because copyright rules have to be honored.

  1. Right on time this fine Sunday Morno!

I have a box of girl scout thin mints so I can celebrate today without much effort–guess that includes Temporary Insanity Day.

Save travels to Cole! Enjoy your day.

  2. I am temporarily insane about half the day and sometimes I cross right over to totally insane.
It’s that time of the year, I have three boxes of Girl Scout thin mints.
Have a great day. Hope Cole has a great trip.

  3. Safe travels to Cole — Domer’s birthday is in early March, too! I so love mint and chocolate together; have you tried Grasshopper Pie? Such a yummy way to celebrate this day!
