★~ Scrabble Day:

The official game of rainy days spent stuck in the hotel during a beach vacation, Scrabble is sold in 121 countries, with 29 different language versions.  There are 101 accepted two-letter words and 1015 three-letter words in the English language. I always wondered about that…Really.  Play a game of scrabble today and may the word quixotry be with you.

★~ Peach Cobbler Day:

If you eat cobbler the United States more than likely you will be eating a dessert made from peaches and batter. When it is baked, the batter rises into a dumpling. Today we are using a Peach filling but you could also make an apple or cherry cobbler.  If you order cobbler in Europe you will be treated to a meat dish made into a type of casserole. Good to know don’t you think?

Did you know that the world’s largest peach cobbler has ever been baked was 11 by 5 feet and 8 inches deep? It was made out of 90 pounds of butter, 150 pounds of sugar, 150 pounds of flour, 32 gallons of milk, and 75 gallons of peaches! This gigantic cobbler was made for the Georgia Peach Festival in 2007 and every year they try and out-do the previous year.  I bet they call each other precious, peachy, and bless each other hearts a lot during that event: “We just love Mary Jo to death but she kain’t  make a peach cobbler worth giving to the dawgs…Bless Her Heart.”  Why not make a peach cobbler for dessert tonight?

Do you like to play Scrabble?  If you like to play Scrabble, do you like board games? I do not like Scrabble, and I do not like board games. I do not think they are fun. Not in a boat, not on a train or in a plane. No Scrabble, Parcheesi, Monopoly or whatever that game is with the plastic apples on the tree and certainly no cooperative friendly games where you go endlessly around a board trying to help others, and no one every wins and no one ever loses . . . and the point would be what? To bore yourself to death? Ok. Sorry. This was about you! Do you like to play Scrabble? Do you like board games?

Speaking of words, a great word is Paraskevidekatriaphobia which, of course, is the fear of Friday the 13th. The word “paraskevidekatriaphobia” was devised by Dr. Donald Dossey who told his patients that “when you learn to pronounce it, you’re cured!”

I am drinking warm lemon juice this morning to jump start my day. Diane over at Tangled in Kudzu wants to have her belly button pierced and feels the first step towards her goal is exercise and lemon juice water. I do NOT want to have my belly button pierced but I could not resist trying some lemon juice this morning to jump start my day.  It’s ok but truthfully it could use a lot of sugar and a ice.

Happy Friday the 13th! What’s up with you today? Odd Loves Company!

  2. Lucky Day for me–It’s Friday with a weekend of golf coming up.
Scrabble is a good rainy day game but I don’t really enjoy it.

    Have a good one!

  3. Lucky 13. Scrabble was a favorite family game when I was young and now it’s been replaced by Words with Friends – my new obsession.

  4. Despite my love for WORDS, i never really got into Scrabble. With us on rainy days, it was more likely to be Monopoly (something that brought out the tycoon in the best of us!). Oh, and I actually saw Van Cliburn many moons ago — as I recall, he was very tall, quite handsome, and had monstrous-sized hands (the better to play piano with, my dear!). Have a fun weekend!

  5. Drinking hot lemonade without sugar????YUK! That will certainly make you a *sourpuss* today. Better stick with your little bottle of coke.

    • Sigh. Somehow I missed these comments last year. Hate it when that happens. I gave up the lemon in warm water shortly after this post!
