★~ ‘Wear your Pajamas to Work Day:

Sometimes doing something downright silly can wake us up to all kinds of new opportunities and possibilities. But if you just can’t bring yourself to go for it, then try imagining people’s reactions if you really did arrive at work in your jammies…Might add a giggle to your day!

★~ International Jugglers Day:

Cole was about six when he said, “Look Mom! I can juggle!” and I looked over and he was juggling three small balls expertly. I was naturally a little surprised and asked him where he had learned to juggle; he told me he had paid close attention to the juggler we had seen at the mall a few days earlier.

From that day forward Cole has juggled everything except the family heirlooms—which we don’t have. He does not have much interest in moving beyond four flying objects; he just enjoys juggling a variety of things. I have to admit that I’m glad he did not move on to swallowing swords.

★~ National Animal Cracker Day:

We can celebrate by munching Animal Crackers while we work the day away in our jammies. Lions and tigers, and bears and elephants… OH MY! Who doesn’t love the crunch and sweetness of an animal cracker?

I love animal crackers. My sweet mom always used to buy me a box when we went grocery shopping. I would munch the heads of tigers, lions, and bears and she would shop. Whenever I see a mom with an ornery toddler at the grocery store, I want to direct her over the animal cracker aisle. I know you are not supposed to open them before you pay for them, but think about it—screaming toddler or happy toddler? Open the box!   Today, I plan to buy a box of animal crackers.

I am hopeful my floors will be finished today.  I will wait until the last coat of polish is put on, and then step back and decide if I am happy or not. I have learned not to be too picky and to appreciate the distressed look. I did find a large lead pipe in the front closet when we cleaned it out to do the floors. It brought back fond memories. Joe wanted to keep the pipe under our bed in case he needed to fight bad guys. I said absolutely not, and he could not understand why….WHY? Because Joe had dreams where he would shake me awake and ask, “Did you hear it? DID YOU HEAR IT?? or “Honey, WAKE UP! IT’S COMING!” or my personal favorite…“OH SHIT—IT IS UNDER THE BED.” Now really, would you want to sleep next to this man with a lead pipe on his side of the bed?

I’d better get busy and kill some rats. What are your plans for the day? Odd Loves Company!

  1. I like frosted Animal Crackers. I’m impressed with Cole’s juggling skills–it’s like being able to play the guitar–he can always add something to a party.

The lead pipe should work fine to kill the rats. Have a good one.

  2. I am still in my jammie bottoms that counts right? One of the perks of being a stay at home mom. My kids love it when we celebrate El Morno Holidays! Today we will celebrate Animal Crackers!

Watch out for those rats and have a great day!

  4. I’m in awe of Cole’s prowess in the juggling arena! With mad skills like that, he’ll be a hit in college! Hey, I finally got it right — I had animal crackers for lunch BEFORE I read El Morno! Woot!

    • WOW! You had animals crackers intuition! Good job! The juggling amuses me but of-course I am pushing him to go beyond 4 balls and pegs…suggesting he step it up–after all that is what a mom is for, right?

  5. I’m totally against jammies being worn out of the house, for ANY reason. After all just look what casual Fri. has wrought!
Animal crackers are a tasty treat any time.
