This June 7th isn’t much different than last June 7th. We are still celebrating Daniel Boone Day and Chocolate Ice Cream Day. So don’t forget to walk tall today, be fearless, and have a scoop of chocolate ice cream.
Happy Birthday Tom Jones (1940)! Sir Tom sang at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee but he did not sing “What’s New Pussycat?” to the Queen, which is probably a good thing. For nearly as long as the Queen has occupied the British throne, Jones has occupied the hearts of the British people. Jones has sold more than 100 million albums in his career, and said he was “shook up a little” when he first learned he would be knighted. “Once I felt the sword on my shoulders it was all – it all came to reality. And it was a wonderful feeling and still is. It’s a great honor.” Jones said he and the queen spoke briefly during the knighting. The queen said he’d given people a lot of pleasure with his music for many years. Jones said that he replied, “‘I’ve had a lot of pleasure doing it, Your Majesty,” and she said, ‘Well, I’m sure you have.”
My sweet Mom and I have a lot on our to-do list. On my mother’s list is finding jasmine body wash. On my list is looking at blinds for my bedroom and buying pink netting so we can make a very special costume for a turtle. Naturally we will “do lunch.” Cocktails and dinner at my brother in-law’s and sister-in-law’s will end the day on a special note.
Last night Cole brought half a watermelon to the table and just dug his fork right into it, refusing my request to slice a piece for himself in case we would all like a piece later. When my objection was ignored there was only one thing to do–grab my own spoon and dig in. My sweet Mom was horrified, but then decided it looked pretty good and asked for her own spoon. When Cole started slurping the juice up with a straw my mother said I had absolutely no control but I showed her and put my foot firmly down when the straw flicked me with watermelon juice. You have to stand for something or you will fall for anything.
Excuse the awkward segue, but I must move along and wanted to make sure that you had seen these cool Venus in Transit pictures. El Morno friend Hazel wrote a great piece on how this phenomenon might have an effect on our lives, which I will share with you very soon.

My youngest was Danial Boone when he was 4 and four years later he still loves his Coon Skin hat. I will let him know what today is so he can walk tall and celebrate!

I’ve been following El Morno for about a month and like the daily updates. I have a lot of client lunches and sometimes I don’t have much in common with my lunch date so being able to talk about the holiday of the day or throw out some trivia is really helpful. Thanks! Now, if only I still had my coon skin hat.
Definitely “What’s New Pussy Cat” whoa whoa whoa!!! Our youngest son had a love of all things Tom Jones for awhile and so that was his ring tone when he called me for the longest time. Always made me smile when I heard it. Hmmm…and jasmine body wash sounds loverly!!! Have a great day!
Glad your mom arrived safely and you’re showing her a good time — nothing like watermelon in June. So sticky, so sweet! I hadn’t thought of using a straw, but perhaps Cole is onto something!
