★~ Relaxation Day:

You can bend, stretch and Ommmm your way to Nirvana but Yodeling is also an excellent way to let it all out and relax! The throaty singing style, used for years as a means of communicating across mountains and valleys, can help you master your breathing, which aids in releasing stress and calming nerves.

The best way to learn to Yodel is to buy a ticket to Zurich, Switzerland and study with the masters at the Zurich Conservatory of Music but travel is expensive and classes are often booked so you might just want to train closer at home using an on-line video.

To Celebrate Relation Day this all give yodeling a try…are your ready?

Do you feel more relaxed now?

★~ Lemon Meringue Pie:

Perfect Lemon Meringue Pie Recipe

Pucker up, sweet stuff — today is Lemon Meringue Pie Day!

Since Medieval times, we’ve had an affinity for lemon pies and custards, but meringue didn’t start rearing its pillowy head until the 1600s. Alexander Frehse had the bright idea of combining this tangy-sweet duo into a pie in the nineteenth century.

I’ve never tangled with making a lemon meringue pie, but I have heard that the lemon curd and cornstarch filling can be a fickle feat to pull off. However, I do have it on good authority that the recipe on the side of the cornstarch box works like a charm, and if you’re ever unsure about the consistency, cook it just a minute longer. I know taking cooking tips from the blogger who doesn’t cook might not seem like a good idea, but I’m masterful at befriending good cooks, so give the tip a try and enjoy some lemon meringue pie!

♥~ 1877 – Thomas Edison wrote the president of the Telegraph Company in Pittsburgh, PA. The letter stated that the word, “hello” would be a more appropriate greeting than“ahoy,” as suggested by Alexander Graham Bell when answering the telephone. And so it is that we pick up the phone anywhere in the world and say: “Allo. Alo. Bueno. Pronto. Hallo. Aloha. Mo simosi. Hello.”

♥~ 1943 – Because of his special talent to use food scraps in both unusual and appetizing recipes, the War Department awarded Sgt. Edward Dzuba the Legion of Merit.

♥~1969 – Three Dog Night (Danny Hutton, Cory Wells and Chuck Negron) was awarded a gold record for the album, Three Dog Night. Where’d the name of the group come from? In Australia, the aborigine tribes of several regions slept outside all year. As the temperatures got colder, the tribesmen would sleep with a dog to keep warm. In colder weather, they would huddle with two dogs. It must have been an extremely cold night when the group was formed…

♥~1969- Woodstock Anniversary – The Woodstock Music and Art Fair opened on this day in an alfalfa field on or near Yasgur’s Farm at Bethel, NY. The three-day rock concert featured 24 bands and drew a crowd of more than 400,000 people. Click for more fascinating Woodstock facts.

♥~ 1977 – 8-year-old Rebecca Chase sank a hole-in-one on the 125-yard par-3 fifth hole at Oak Knoll golf course in The Dalles, Oregon. It was the first hole she ever played

♥~ 2002 – Authorities in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, charged a 30-year-old man for public drunkenness after the slowest police chase on record. The man was cruising down the street at 3 miles an hour on a child’s Fisher Price Power Wheels car.

★~Born Today:

♥~ 1771 – Sir Walter Scott writer: Ivanhoe, The Talisman, The Heart of Midlothian, Rob Roy, The Fortunes of Nigel; died Sep 21, 1832

♥~ 1912 –  Juiia Child –  America’s beloved food authority, who didn’t take a cooking lesson until she was in her 30s, was born at Pasadena, CA. Child’s cookbooks and television shows (most famously, “The French Chef”) encouraged Americans to cook and eat well and to be skeptical of food fads and diet strictures. “Cooking is not a chore; it is a joy,” Child believed. She died at Santa Barbara, CA, Aug 13, 2004.

  1. Lemon Meringue Pie is one of my favorite pies. Those sharks look pretty fierce. I hope you are not planning to add one to your tank.

Yodel-ay-ee-oooo!! I do feel more relaxed. Thank you.

    Make it a good one!

  2. I have never been able to make a decent Lemon Meringue Pie-I’m going to have to give your tip a try.
Sharks are interesting from afar but I sure wouldn’t want to meet one up close and personal!

    Happy Wednesday!

    • Me either. Really the internet is a little to close. I have heard the corn starch recipe is really good but Nancy (read down) also has a product she swears by and it comes in a package YAY.

  3. My 9 year old is crazy about sharks. We must have 10 books on sharks and at least 3 videos. He was so excited to learn it was shark week. Yesterday he practiced drawing sharks and I know he going to love Shark Cam. It’s fintastic! 😀

    • Fintastic? Oh dear. I think Cole liked sharks around that age too. I know he had a shark t-shirt. Well, your 9 year old should find plenty of shark things to excited him this week!

  4. El Morno!
Love Lemon Meringue Pie but I have never been able to make it so we just buy it at Bakers Square.
My aunt can Yodel I will have to ask her if she finds it relaxing.

  5. Little known fact about Geri…I come from a family of Yodelers and was taught to Yodel at a very young age. I have not kept up with it but at family gatherings I can hold my own. I think it might be more relaxing to yodel than to listen to yodeling–Nobody had ever asked me to yodel them to sleep but maybe I should offer….
    Cheers!

  6. My Mom could bake the best Lemon meringue pie and it was her very favorite. Sharks…..from behind a glass or in an aquarium.

    • I agree–never up close and personal! I love Lemon meringue pie but the meringue is my favorite part. I have never even thought about making one. My brother-in-law makes a Lemon meringue tart that is wonderful.

  7. What? I missed Lemon Meringue Pie day? Say it ain’t so, Katybeth! Does it count that I had lemon yogurt? Of course, it’s not the same, but golly, now you’ve got me wishing I had pie for dessert!

    • It ain’t so…Just make one in August and your good for another few months. No, lemon yogurt does not count. Don’t you have a Bakers Square in your general vicinity for these kinds of pie emergencies?
      Missed you!
