★~ National Punctuation Day:

I’ve experienced personal growth since last years Punctuation Day Celebration. I now enjoy properly placed comas, neatly hyphenated words, and periods tucked inside of question marks. However, I still stand firmly behind my right to whimsically capitalize and put multiple exclamation marks at the end of a sentence.  I’m an enthusiastic person. Happy Punctuation Day!!!

★~ National Bluebird of Happiness Day:

A Bluebird of Happiness on a Rainy Day

be like I, hold your head up high,
’til you see a ray of light and cheer

and so remember this, life is no abyss
somewhere there’s a bluebird of happiness

–Bluebird of Happiness, Harmati & Heyman (1934)

The bluebird is native to North America, and has become a worldwide symbol of love and happiness. The iconic “bluebird of happiness” can be traced back to at least 1908, when it appeared in a Nobel Prize-winning play, “The Blue Bird.”

Celebrate Blue Bird of Happiness Day by watching, The 1976 film version of “The Blue Bird” with an all-star cast, including Elizabeth Taylor, Jane Fonda, Ava Gardner and Cicely Tyson, or just happily sip a Blue Bird Cocktail or both if it makes you happy.

Pursuit of Happiness Cocktail

2 oz Pineapple Juice
1 oz Aged White Rum (like Denizen)
3/4 oz Blue Curacao
garnish of a slice of Pineapple with or without a little bluebird pick

Combine the juice, rum, and curacao over ice and shake til you’re feeling happy. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a slice of pineapple. Making a little themed bird picks is optional but might be fun!

★: Cherries Jubilee Day:

The original Cherries Jubilee recipe (cherries, krisch or brandy liqueur) is attributed to French chef Auguste Escoffie who prepared the dish for one of Queen Victoria’s jubilee celebrations. It is unclear whether it first appeared at the Golden Jubilee in 1887 or the Diamond Jubilee in 1897, but it quickly became one of the most fashionable desserts of the era. For many years, cherries jubilee was a standard menu item at America’s finest restaurants, reaching the peak of its popularity in the 1950s and 1960s.

Celebrate Cherries Jubilee!  However, remember a little flambé goes a long way.

  1. Morno,

I always thought Cherries Jubilee was a fancy dessert. It looks like it’s just cherry sauce on ice cream that you can set on fire if you want too.
My favorite punctuation mark is the ?. I like the way it looks.
Hope that bluebird pays a visit today!

    Have a good one.

    • Whalla!!! Especially when you used a little too much flamba and set the napkins on fire, burning a hole in the table cloth. But if you always keep a spritz bottle container handy you can save the house. I don’t make it anymore but I love it when Richard does….

  2. As an English major, I’m a BIG FAN of punctuation! However, I, too, am naturally enthusiastic, and I love lots of exclamation points!! See?!

I don’t think I’ve ever had a cherries jubilee — looks yummy, though, and at least they kept nasty nuts out of the recipe!

    • You’re such a cool punctuator. The punctuation on your posts always stands out. Other people can punctuation but you do it with a certain finase.
I thought of you last night, when Cole for some god unknown reasons made brownies withOUT nuts. We will be talking about the error of his omission for a LONG time.

      Merry Monday!!!!!

  3. Missed you over the weekend. Punctuation is the bane of my existence. I’m always short on commas or adding an s where I shouldn’t. I guess a lot. If I had to choose a favorite it would be ….
Cheeries Jubilee looks yummy. Mike!!! It is a fancy schmancy dessert!!!
    TTFN. Enjoy your Day.

  4. Does this have anything to do with punctuation? I think English is hard! I’m having problem speaking regular English as it is.. my defense? It’s part of my charm. 🙂

  5. never had cherries jubilee. am fine with cherries alone, but, if you insist, vanilla ice cream, too! enjoyed bullwinkle, rocky & friends. like jimi’s music. he does not look like a jimmy. favorite punctuation………….
