Today is the perfect opportunity to break out the bejeweled collars, sassy sweaters, and fashion accessories.

A Weimaraner named Man Ray is arguably the most famous dressed-up pet in American history. In the 1970s he collaborated with his owner, photographer William Wegman, to produce a collection of internationally acclaimed portraits.

I’ve been known to dress up our pups a time or two. . . Rascal loves to play dress-up. Really!  She has an impeccable sense of style, and frankly, I think she gets tired of her dog suit and wants a change from time to time…what girl doesn’t?

~ Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day:

Pastrami made it to the United States in the late 19th century, thanks to Romanian Jewish immigrants from Bessarabia and Romania. The name was probably changed to pastrami to sound more like Italian salami. It’s always nice when your meats rhyme, isn’t it? There is a dispute as to which New Yorker created the first pastrami sandwich, but we do know it was created between 1887-1888.

Celebrate Pastrami sandwich day, by heating up some Pastrami, introducing it to rye bread and condiments (sometimes people slap on some coleslaw and Russian dressing) and enjoying a perfect hot sammie lunch or dinner. MMMM Good!

I’m sure at some point today I will dig into the costume box and play dress up with my pups…People often wonder how I talk pups into keeping their glasses, hats, and strapless gowns in place–I will try to get my act together and post some pictures with some tips later today.

Lets Go Monday. Lets Go!!

  1. Morno,

No pets to dress up so I will have to live vicariously. We have a deli not far from work that makes a great hot pastrami sandwich. I haven’t had one in awhile I will drop by today for lunch.
    Go Falcons!
    Have a good one.

  2. who are the two dobes in the picture? the only dress up i do for dogs has been a sweater or coat. yeah, boring. nik has a natty suede & fleece coat. she dresses better than me…..
have never watched the simpsons. always enjoyed andy rooney’s few minutes though.
the ferret looks fierce with that lower fang.
raining again. can’t complain since we do need it. hope agility class is not canceled tonight. we need that, too!
    good day!

    • The dobes? Oh please….Trinket and Rumor of-course :-D. A coat can be fun dress up.I got caught listening to Andy Rooney last night while I searched out a video for El Morno. Such a great curmudgeon. Like you, Simpsons have never appealed to me.
I will keep my fingers crossed agility is not rained out!
      Good Day to you!

  3. I remember the time you dressed up George and Max in the Duluth vests and hats – and they made the big time in the Duluth online marketing mailing!

Matt has been a loyal Duluth customer ever since. And we still have that great photo on our fridge.

    • That was such fun! It was George and Max turn to be in the spotlight for a change….because you know who, is always photo bombing :-D. Uhm, has Matt tried out Duluths new jeans?

    • Happy New Year Jane!!! Would EL Morno lie? Never. Ok. Maybe. But not today!! It is indeed Pet Dress Up Day! FUN. Hope your daughter has lots of photo opportunities!

  4. I have enough trouble getting my Sheltie to wear a raincoat and booties when the snows and downpours hit — I’m sure he wouldn’t cotton to play dress-up. That’s why I’m eager to read your tips — must be something I’m doing wrong!!

  5. Katybeth, the Dobes are Dazzle and Rumor! And don’t try to tell me all Dobes look alike!
We’re having left overs for dinner but a hot Pastrami sounds very good.
