★ ~ Fairy Day:

Fairy Day, Praline Cookie Day

Clap twice! Today fairy believers young and old to celebrate the stories, magic, and history of the Fair Folk. For centuries, fairies have been an important part of Celtic culture. In all of the ancient legends, these mythological creatures are described as intelligent, mischievous, and magical. They have the ability to fly and cast spells, and they live in “Tír na nÓg,” the land of eternal youth. Mortals don’t often see fairies because of the division between the two worlds, but sightings can occur at twilight or during Beltane, Mid-Summer’s Eve, or All Hallow’s Eve.

In his 1904 play Peter Pan, J.M. Barrie wrote that when the first baby laughed, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and that was the beginning of fairies.

Invented in France, pralines started out as sugared almonds. Settlers in 18th-century Louisiana replaced the almonds with pecans and added cream — voila, the Southern praline was born.

The gangs in Chicago are looking up . . .

We are off this morno to run a couple of errands and to let Rascal try out the new 2.0 car seat Cole made for her,  it’s an upgrade from the last one he made her which was clunky, heavy and really ugly. The upgrade was made with PVC pipe and a denim cover. It is lightweight and pretty. My concern is that it will ride more like a trampoline than a car seat with the tightly stretched denim. I’ll let you know. Later, we will clean out the gutters, my roof has sprouted a garden which is very pretty but not good for the roof shingles or drainage system. Just the life of a happy home owner.

Hope you have a terrific Tuesday but if it doesn’t live up to your expectations feel free to rant – It’s Rant Tuesday.

Don’t forget to clap twice for all the fairies. You believe, right?

  1. Good Morno,
    I clapped.
Praline cookies are good. We usually have them more around the holidays.
    Robocop another classic.
Those bears look like they are on a mission I wouldn’t want to be in the way.
Good luck with the gutters. Stay off the roof in the rain. Believe it or not I’m branching out and going fishing for 4 days, I’ll be back on Monday. I’m not sure about internet but I’ll try to check in. Have a good one.

    • Gone fishing? You really like to swing. :-D. Have fun and catch up when you can.
Fairies everywhere thank you for clapping.

  2. I actually unknowingly clapped earlier this morning. I think that counts.
    Love Fleetwood Mac.
Yeah, you’ve got to be very afraid of those Canadian gangs!
Funny teaching video! On her level.
Looks like great weather to work outdoors. More rain is forecasted the next few days.
    Good morning!

    • Good! It does count. But it’s kind of like wiggling your toes–you should do it often in case you are really in a coma and somebody is considering pulling the plug.
Hope the humidity is not matching the rain and you are able to enjoy.
The Jack probably thought the kid was a little slow and wanted to be very clear about how to do it.

  3. Tell me again, what does rain look like? IDo you mean some people don’t believe in Faries. They probably don’t believe in Gnomes or Gremlins either. I’ve had a busy day getting ready for my gal pal to arrive this Thurs.

    • We showed you rain when you were here. How quickly you forget.
I am pretty sure most people believe in all kinds of little people. It’s so obvious.

  4. That is such a cute video ! Of course there are fairies as well as angels, etc..I love anything with wings.. 😀

    • Me too. My butterfly garden is flourishing (I have more than two butterflies) and that makes me so happy.

  5. I was in Champaign all day yesterday, so today I’m playing catchup. I missed Fairy Day? Boo. Does it still work if I clap twice today??
Oh, thank Cole for the note — he didn’t have to do that, but I loved getting it!
