Mashable’s launched social media day in 2010 as a way to recognize the digital revolution happening right before our eyes. I guess this means you should spend more time on your favorite social media site today. Ok.

★~ Meteor Day:

Social Media Day, Meteor Day, Turkey Day

The word “meteor” refers to the visible streak of light produced by fallen debris from space—”meteoroids.” We also call these beautiful sights “shooting stars” or “falling stars.” Tonight, make sure you look up and, if you see a meteor, don’t forget to make a wish.

Gone with the Wind Book, Social Media Day, Meteor Day, Turkey Day

♥~ 1936 –   Margaret Mitchell’s,  Gone with the Wind, one of the best-selling novels of all time and the basis for a blockbuster 1939 movie, was published. Mitchell was forced to quit her job as a reporter at the Atlanta Journal to recover from a series of physical injuries. With too much time on her hands, Mitchell soon grew restless. Working on a Remington typewriter, a gift from her second husband, John R. Marsh, in their cramped one-bedroom apartment, Mitchell began telling the story of an Atlanta belle named Pansy O’Hara. . .

♥~ 1962 –  Sandy Koufax strikes out 13 batters and walks five to lead the Brooklyn Dodgers to victory over the New York Mets 5-0 with his first career no-hitter. Koufax went on to throw three more no-hitters, including a perfect game on September 9, 1965, in which he allowed no hits and no walks.

♥~ 1994 – The temperature at Death Valley, California reached 128 degrees (Fahrenheit). The only other time it has been that hot (since 1961 when weather data was first recorded) was on July 14, 1972. In case you are wondering, the coldest day was at Death Valley was January 30, 1988, when it reached zero.

Rabbit Rabbit!

Today is the last day of the June and you know what that means don’t you?  It’s time to prepare for the first of the month and all that can be yours by simple saying  ”rabbit, rabbit!” The first words out of your mouth on the first day of July must be “rabbit, rabbit.

We are on the radar for severe thunderstorms which is preferable, in my opinion, to the ongoing fireworks. Vickie, our friend and camp helper, tried a new product from Amazon to help her 5 pound pup make it through the fireworks called Zylkene. She says it’s working better than Pet Calm. The trick is to start giving any of these products early. If you wait until your pup is already stressed fuggetaboutit.

Did you think KLMs world cup tweet was racist?  It’s always a bad idea to offend potential customers, but racist??  And the tweet gave Aeromexico the perfect retort.  So far ,it seems more Mexican – Americans are offended than people actually living in Mexico.  I was disappointed they took the tweet down.

Merry Monday to one and all!

  1. Morno,
Thunderstorms have slowed us down. I’ve decided visit friends on the way home. Swing a golf club or two. I’ll be in and out all week.
I saw that about KLM. Silly. Now, I’m hungry for a turkey sandwich and lunch. This comment satisfies my social media obligations, and if I see a shooting star I’ll wish.
Have a good one. It will be catch up along the way.

    • Funny, most people thought it was very silly. The only one screaming racism was the press trying to make something out of nuthing
Your detour sound’s like a happy one. Catch as catch can.

  2. Morno,
I’ve been missing so much. We are on vacation in Canada and internet has been sporadic when we camp, but for the next few days we are staying in a hotel in Montreal.
Laughed at the videos. Especially the car one. Love Turkey sandwiches and good idea for our picnics, Beautiful skies in Canada – we’ve seen many a shooting star.
I hope we’re celebrating Canada Day tomorrow!
    TTFN

    • HI LIZ! You have been missed. Hope OH CANADA is showing you a marvelous time. Of-course we will celebrate Canada day.
I’ve been to Canada but never camped, I’ve heard it is an amazing experience.
      See you tomorrow.

  3. Those videos are so funny..especially the road rage one..I know road rage is dangerous but I sure have felt like “getting even” with jerks on the road..
I must try the turkey apple melt..looks so good.. 😀

    • Me too! A moment like that would be spectacular. The turkey apple melt is a wonderful summer sammie.

  4. Woo-Hoo, I had a turkey sandwich for lunch (before I read that that’s the food of the day, too!) Love it when I get it right!

I can’t imagine we’ll see shooting stars tonight. Until the promised cold front passes through, we’re sitting in unsettled, stormy weather — very sticky and cloudy. In short, yuck!

Mitchell originally named her heroine “Pansy”? Just doesn’t have the same zing that “Scarlett” does, you know?

Love the bunny. Must make myself a note to say Rabbit Rabbit in the morno!

    • You go girl! I love it to. Good energy with things align.
I was a little surprised by Pansy too. Scarlet was no Pansy.
July is going to be such a good month. And Mercury is out of retrograde so everything will be so much easier.
