Cake Decorating Day, Angel Food Cake Day

Vickie (our friend and camp helper) is taking a cake decorating class. She made this cake for her class and then gave it to us, just in time for cake decorating day! I love it when that happens.

It was the first time Vickie used a basket weave design on a cake and while she see’s flaws, I see perfection. The filling is chocolate Bailey’s cream. It tastes every bit as good as it looks.  I ate all the buttercream roses. And Vickie is bringing me the leftover roses that didn’t make it on the cake. Am I lucky or what!

I’m so happy Vickie signed up for another cake decorating class!

Sorry we missed celebrating moldy cheese day yesterday. Oddly enough we also missed it last year. Perhaps, we are just destined to let moldy cheese go uncelebrated.  I think that is okay.

A video from Prairie Wolf Dog Park that we took this week. The Lab’s name is LeBron. He’s very athletic.

More pictures of our campers can be found on our Camp Facebook page.

I’m off to eat another piece of Vickie’s cake. Perfect for breakfast with some hot tea. I wish I could share a piece with you. Really!

Have a fabulous Friday.

  1. That Lab can jump.
Pretty cake. And it looks very tasty. I’ve always wondered how they make those roses so fancy.
I’ll listen to the amazing facts later. Heading out to breakfast and then the office for a few hours to wrap this week up.
    Have a good one.

    • LeBron can jump and loves to swim. He will round up every ball in the lake.
I’m not sure how the roses are made but they are very tasty.

  2. Morno,
What a beautiful cake! I’ve always wanted to take a cake decorating class. Maybe when the kids are older. Those roses are so pretty. I like angel food cake too. Iced or plain.
Awesome video and picture. Looks like a beautiful place.
So happy it is Friday it has been a long week.

    • Thanks. Prairie Wolf is fall pretty. Cake decorating you can show off your skills when you have grandchildren!
Is it a three day weekend for you?

  3. Mmmm, Vickie’s cake looks delicious! She might consider it a failure, but I think you’re lucky to have such a talented, generous friend.

I’m with you — I like Nora Roberts, and I admire how prolific she is. Guess everything one writes can’t please all the people all the time, right?

I’ll be back to check out the 100 Amazing Facts — duty calls first. Happy Friday!

    • So good. She is very critical of her efforts but it was so good and and so pretty. This is only her second class. She even brought me all the left-over roses.
      I can’t wait for Nora’s new book!

  4. Gosh, I am a HUGE cake fan! Fascinating how “huge” and “cake” seem to go together here. LOL And you know, my grandmother was famous for her angel food cakes. I forget how many egg yokes her recipe called for.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, my friend. I’m still laughing about the car in the garage!

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

    • HUGE and cake are a good pairing. Angel food cake takes real cake expertise and around 12 large eggs. You have to whip those egg whites like crazy. I use the pre-made or box cake but I’ve watched my Mom make them. I always had one for my birthday with whip cream and strawberries.
If you were here I would share a piece of cake and we could laugh together.

  5. Oh that Lab!!! Beautiful!!!! And that cake….I hope you saved a piece for me. I am so behind and catching up on reading all of last week’s blogs at once!!! Thanks for keeping the light on for me!!!

    • LeBron is awesome in so many ways. We’ll always leave the light on and a piece of cake or something sweet in the fridge.
