40 Pups Done, 1 Peacock to go, Howl-o-ween Week

Lebron, Michael Phelps

(See if you can guess who LeBron is: Hint: He is a competitive swimmer and the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 28 medals)

Halloween Pup 41 was costumed and photographed today. A few photos still need to be fine-tuned, but I hope those won’t take long. It’s always the little white dog who wants to be a peacock that stumps you. I would have finished the peacock photo last night, but I knew it was time to stop when I was beside myself because the pup didn’t look like a real peacock.

One of the best parts of this project is sharing the photographs. Another is laughing endlessly while we are in the throes of it all: watching my 20 year old son try to stuff a 70-pound lab into a duck costume made for a toddler, for example. In this set of pictures, the natural expression on our Frat pup had us both rolling on the floor. Sure, we get frustrated sometimes, but when you catch yourself shouting because a pup keeps shaking his squirrel tail off, the absurdity of it all is not lost on you.

I hope today’s selection of Howl-O-Ween pictures makes you smile!

Hugo, Animal house, Frat pup

Hugo – Toga! Toga! Toga! Toga! This pup’s expression says it all – FOOD FIGHT! Hugo’s costume picked itself—Frat Pup!

Eagle, Chloe, Halloween

She soars for the Frisbee, she swims for the ball, she leaps at the swallows, and is a fine fisherlab! Chloe is an eagle. Oh, you knew that? Well, fine, smarty pants. Chloe loves spreading her wings for Halloween. We think she might have been an eagle in a past life.

carly-and-hazel-wizard of oz

Carly and Hazel—These are the perfect costumes for two cousins who compliment one another’s personalities. For example, if a pot roast was on the counter, Carly might suggest grabbing it, and Hazel would make sure they didn’t get caught. Without Carly, they would not be snacking on pot roast, but without Hazel they would most certainly be in the dog house sooner rather than later. Carly says, “Go for it!”, and Hazel asks, “Is it worth it?” Truthfully, In our opinion, both of them would rather party with the flying monkeys than hang with Dorothy and the gang.

lily-mad-scientist-Halloween

Lily wanted to be Peggy Whitson for Halloween, Huh? (quick visit to Google land…) Yep, she would make a fine scientist! She is curious, a keen observer, strong communicator, and a little bit skeptical. Sadly, none of her pup peers would know who Peggy Whitson is, so we favored more of an intense, mad scientist look for her, and we think she plays the part brilliantly!

I am starting off my day by making few adjustments to a very bouncy tigger costume! Back soon with some Scary Friday Howl-o-ween pictures!

Happy Friday!

  1. These are SUPER!! Love the Frat Dawg’s expression. How did you get him to grin like that?? And yes, I had to Google Peggy — duh. Looking forward to your next installment!!

  2. I am wondering about print of a few of these pictures. I work as pediatric dentist and I think some of these pictures would be very cute in our exam room! I will email you. Looking forward to the next batch.

  3. I can’t wait to see the peacock. These pictures are so great. I can’t even imagine the work that goes into it but the results are fabulous.
