★~ Today’s Quote: A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.  ~ Antoine de Saint-Exupery

★~ Old Rock Day:

The rocks on Canada’s Baffin Island are so old. / “How old are they?” / They’re so old that dinosaurs once used them as marbles. They’re so old they were rocking out when the moon was just space dust in its mother’s eye. No, but seriously, these rocks have been around for 4.5 billion years, back when the earth was a fiery magma ball.
Acknowledge a rock today … and encourage it to rock on . . .or maybe turn it into a pet!

★~ I’m Not Going to Take It Anymore Day:

It’s easy to say, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore,” but as you confront that no-good dirty rotten low-down scoundrel, boss, Chase banker, AT&T or Comcast operator, or the smug genius at the genius bar, you might need a little motivational encouragement.

When Mae West was asked to give more than she was willing to give, she was known to recite this little ditty in her deep sultry voice …

I ain’t gonna do it for a dime no more.
It hurts my back and makes me sore.
Fifteen cents is my regular price.
Give me a quarter and I’ll do it twice.
Shoeshine, mister?

Read it twice and you won’t forget it.

Nothing beats music for a little motivation:

Arron Tippin–You have to stand for something

Dixie Chicks—Goodbye Earl

Johnny Paycheck—You Can Take This Job and Shove It

And if all else fails … just get the hell out of Dodge … there has to be a beach somewhere …

Some Beach Somewhere

★~Tempura Day:

My sweet mother has been talking about how good tempura shrimp are and encouraging me to make them for weeks. Today, I will take her suggestion and we shall tempura!

I mean, really, how bad can anything be after you dip it in tempura batter and deep-fry it? In fact, I may have to batter up some mushrooms to go with those shrimp.

In case you were wondering my pet rock was named, Rocky Road. He was such a good rock; very low maintenance and very smart. I taught Rocky Road to sit and stay in one quick training session. Rocky met his soul mate fossil one day and I had to let him go….last I heard they had one little boy-called pebbles. Did you have a pet rock?

Wishing you a wonderful Saturday and remember dadgumrockthrowingdamit you are not going to take it anymore! Now get out there and do El Morno proud. If you have an El Morno Moment leave a comment…cause Odd Loves Company!

  1. Johnny Paycheck great guy. My neighbor keeps letting his pooch go on my side yard. I don’t care that the dog uses the side yard, I do care that it takes my neighbor days to clean it up. I mentioned it once, guess it is time to mention it again.
I have a bunch of running around to do today. Time to fix some things around the house.
    Have a good one.

  2. I had a pet rock and you are right…she was so loving and easy to train. Her name was Ruby. Love tempuraed anything. I think you just answered my dinner reservations question.. Japanese!!
Great music selection. I am returning shoes with a vengeance. They better not ask me about a receipt!!

    Have a great day!

  3. Never had a pet rock, but I did, at the last WW meeting, receive a small stone that the leader had painted the word “believe’ on…which was very sweet.

  4. Tempura Day, huh? Oops! I had Italian, including really yummy tiramisu.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, Girlfriend. Old Rock Day, huh? Could be worse, I suppose. 🙂

    Happy weekend.

  5. When Domer was doing T-ball, he’d often load his pockets with “special” rocks and bring them to me as presents. Why are they special, I’d ask. Look at them — don’t they look special to you? he’d reply. Ah, the good ole days!
