★~ Yell Fudge Day:

I have yelled “Fudge” every June 2nd at 12 noon ever since I heard that yelling “Fudge” would keep the cobras out of North America. Hearing the word “fudge,” they say, makes cobras gag and quickly slither away. It must work, because I can honestly say I have never seen a cobra in my neighborhood.

★~ Bubba Day:

Both the man who Roto-Roots my pipes and my plumber are named Bubba. The man who hauled a bunch of stuff away for me several years ago was named Bubba. I have never been let down by a man named Bubba so I am happy to honor Bubba’s everywhere today. Comedian T. Bubba Bechtol created this holiday for Bubba’s everywhere.

★~ Rocky Road Ice Cream Day:

Here is the scoop on this delicious ice cream treat. Rocky Road ice cream was invented in 1929, after the stock market crash, when the founder of Dreyer Ice Cream, William Dreyer, calmed his Black Thursday nerves by creating the Original Rocky Road. Mixing chunky almonds, mini marshmallows and delicious milk chocolate ice cream, he created a flavor of ice cream that would make people smile during the tough economic times of the Great Depression. It instantly became an American favorite and its fame soon spread to the rest of the world.

Did you know that in Australia, people add jam to their Rocky Road ice cream? And in the United Kingdom, people add cherries and raisins?

Today, enjoy a cone or dish of Rocky Road ice cream…I bet it brings a big smile to your face.

♥~ 1899 – During a train robbery on a Wyoming bridge, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid got into a long argument with the conductor and forgot about the explosives they’d planted. The bridge blew up.

♥~ 1897 – Responding to rumors that he was dying or perhaps even dead, humorist Mark Twain, 61, was quoted by the New York Journal in London as saying that “The report of my death was an exaggeration.

♥~ 1928 – Kraft’s Velveeta processed cheese (“Digestible as milk itself!”) was introduced. It was wrapped in tinfoil and packaged in a wooden box. When melted, it became smooth as velvet.

♥~ 1967 – The Beatles’ album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, was released in the U.S. (on Capitol) this day — one day after its release in the U.K. (on Parlophone). The world is still humming and singing along and tapping fingers and toes to the likes of A Day in the Life, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, With a Little Help From My Friends, When I’m Sixty-Four, She’s Leaving Home, the title song and several others. It had taken the Fab Four only 12 hours to record their first album, Please, Please Me. It took the supergroup 700 hours to complete Sgt. Pepper’s. ♥~ 1996 – The Mt. Vernon Ladies’ Association, which owns George Washington’s Virginia estate, insisted that the cellular telephone relay tower to be built there be disguised as a tree. Cellular One agreed to erect a white fir “treepole” with plastic needles and bark.

♥ ~ 2005 – 13-year-old Anurag Kashyap won the U.S. spelling bee championship by correctly spelling the word appoggiatura, which refers to an embellishing musical note.

♥~ 2007 – In Tempe, Arizona, U.S. hot dog eating champ Joey Chestnut surpassed the record of 53 3/4 hot dogs — held for six years by Takeru Kobayashi of Japan — by wolfing downing 59 1/2 wieners in 12 minutes.

♥ ~ 1904 – Johnny (Peter John) Weissmuller swimmer, actor; died Jan 20, 1984; Born in  Freidorf, near Timisoara, Romania. From the age of three, he was raised in the asphalt jungle of Chicago, but reached the pinnacle of his fame in a tropical jungle. Johnny Weissmuller played the role of Tarzan more than any other actor in a decade of Tarzan films. Weissmuller was a star athlete, however, way before he became a Hollywood star. An Olympic Gold Medalist, Johnny Weissmuller won a total of five gold medals in swimming in the 1924 and 1928 Olympics. He also collected 52 U.S. and 67 world swimming records. The first [1932] Tarzan movie was Tarzan the Ape Man; the last together was in 1942, titled, Tarzan’s New York Adventure.

Bubba was bragging to his boss one day, “You know, I know everyone there is to
know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them. “

Tired of his boasting, his boss called his bluff, “OK, Bubba how about Tom
Cruise? “

“Sure, yes, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it. ” So Bubba and his
boss fly out to Hollywood and knock on Tom Cruise’s door, and sure enough, Tom
Cruise, shouts, “Bubba! Great to see you! You and your friend come right in and 
join me for lunch! “

Although impressed, Bubba’s boss is still skeptical. After they leave Cruise’s
house, he tells Bubba that he thinks

Bubba’s knowing Cruise was just lucky.

“No, no, just name anyone else, ” Bubba says.

“President Obama, ” his boss quickly retorts.

“Yep, ” Bubba says, “I know him, let’s fly out to Washington. ” And off they go.
 At the White House, Obama spots Bubba on the tour and motions him and his boss
over, saying, “Bubba, what a surprise, I was just on my way to a meeting, but
 you and your friend come on in and let’s have a cup of coffee first and catch 
up. “

Well, the boss is very shaken by now, but still not totally convinced.

After they leave the White House grounds, he expresses his doubts to Bubba, who again implores him to name anyone else.

“The Pope, ” his boss replies. “Sure! ” says Bubba. “I’ve known the Pope a long
time. ”

So off they fly to Rome. Bubba and his boss are assembled with the masses in Vatican Square when Bubba says,

“This will never work. I can’t catch the Pope’s eye among all these
people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I’ll
come out on the balcony with the Pope. ” And he disappears into the crowd headed
toward St. Peter’s.

Sure enough, half an hour later Bubba emerges with the Pope on the balcony. But by the time Bubba returns, he finds that his boss has had a heart attack and is surrounded by paramedics. Working his way to his boss’s side, Bubba asks him, “What happened? “

His boss looks up and says, “I was doing fine until you and the Pope came out on the balcony and the Japanese tourist next to me asked, “Who’s that on the balcony with Bubba? “

Rascal and I plan to hit the road today and head to Baskin and Robbins for a Rocky Road ice cream cone. Rascal can lick one side of the cone and I will lick other; but I get the last bite of cone. Maybe. I’m not much of an ice cream eater but you do what you have to do on Rocky Road Ice Cream Day and I do love nuts and little mini marshmallows.
