★~ Today’s Quote: I’m normally not a praying man, but if you’re up there, please save me Superman. ~ Homer Simpson
★~ Dress Up Your Pet Day:
I have been known to dress up our pups a time or two. . . Rascal loves to play dress-up. Really! She has an impeccable sense of style, and frankly, I think she gets tired of her dog suit and wants a change from time to time…what girl doesn’t?
I have often been asked how I talk pups into keeping their glasses, hats, and strapless gowns in place–to which I can only answer, “trade secret,” but here are two tips, my pup’s never just work for love, and Cole is an extremely patient helper. Check back throughout the day, and I suspect we will be having a little fun with our rather extensive costume box. If you have a special picture of your pup sporting an outfit, send it my way, and I will be happy to post it.
★~ Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day:
Pastrami made it to the United States in the late 19th century, thanks to Romanian Jewish immigrants from Bessarabia and Romania. The name was probably changed to pastrami to sound more like Italian salami. It’s always nice when your meats rhyme, isn’t it? There is a dispute as to which New Yorker created the first pastrami sandwich, but we do know it was created between 1887-1888.
Celebrate Pastrami sandwich day, by heating up some Pastrami, introducing it to rye bread and condiments (sometimes people slap on some coleslaw and Russian dressing) and enjoying a perfect Saturday lunch or dinner. MMMM Good!

♥~ Now the longest-running comedy in television history, THE SIMPSONS immediately struck a chord with viewers across the country as it poked fun of itself and everything in its wake.
♥~ The Simpsons first appeared at part of The Tracey Ullman show. In 1992, Tracey Ullman filed a lawsuit against Fox, claiming that her show was the source of the series’ success and that she should receive a share of the profits—a claim rejected by the courts
♥~ Created by Matt Groening, his goal in creating the Simpsons was to offer the audience an alternative to what he called “The mainstream trash” that they were watching.
♥~ The theme song was created in two days by musician Danny Elfman
♥~ Groening named the characters after people in his own family, although instead of using his name, he used Bart, an anagram of Brat.
♥~ The couch gag at the beginning of each episode makes it easier for production to extend the length of the episode if needed. It goes from 5 to 46 seconds
♥~ The Simpsons holds the world record for “most guest stars featured in a television series” including Stephen Hawking, Paul McCartney and Andre Agassi
♥~ “D’Oh!” is listed in the Oxford English Dictionary

The Simpson quotes I read really amused me. Using humor is such a great way to draw attention to human absurdity.
Speaking of which….this poster really puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?
What are your plans for this super Saturday? If they include dressing up your critter, send a picture, and I will showcase it on Odd. Who knows, if we get enough responses, I might have to award a few deer antlers as prizes. This is another of my Odd random, no rules contests, so just play, and don’t fret about the details. Send pictures to: Katybeth@myoddfamily.com

I don’t have a critter to dress up but I will wear a matching scarf and hat today when I go out and for my hot pastrami on rye.
Have a great day.Three day weekend for me!
Rascal does appear to be happy and content while playing dress-up. I need to know that trade secret so I can put my dog on hipster pup or whatever that website is called. He hates dressing up and I’ve tried everything.
Can’t wait to see more dress-up photos! ♥
Our dog does not like to dress up but the kids do not seem to care. She should bite them but doesn’t. We love pastrami sandwiches so maybe that is what we will have for an late lunch-early dinner.
Hope you have a fun Saturday
