★~ Today’s Quote: To put yourself in another’s place requires real imagination, but by doing so each Girl Scout will be able to love among others happily. Juliette G. Low

★~ Dog Biscuit Day:

My Jack Rascal decided she would rather appreciate and support Girl Scout Cookies today instead of Dog Biscuits. I thought it was appropriate.  We did gather some dog biscuit facts for ‘Did You Know’ (read down).

★~ Banana Nut Bread Day:

Bananas arrived in the United States in the 1870s and quickly became one of the most popular fruits on the market. It wasn’t long before they started to appear in dessert recipes as the star ingredient. The first cookbooks that mentioned banana bread were published during the Great Depression. Culinary historians believe that a resourceful housewife who did not want to throw away over-ripe bananas may have invented the original recipe.

To read about my love for Bananas and there many uses click here. But one of the best ways to enjoy bananas is by making a loaf of banana nut bread! If you don’t like nuts,  substitute chocolate chips or berries.

★~ Today in History:

♥~ 1886 – Charles M. Hall completed his invention of aluminum. Thank god, where would Thanksgiving be if we did not have aluminum foil? Among other things of-course!

♥~ 1937 – Bing Crosby sang with Lani McIntyre and His Hawaiians, as Sweet Leilani was recorded on Decca Records. The Academy Award-winning song was featured in the movie Waikiki Wedding.

♥~ 1963 – The Chiffons recording of He’s So Fine was released. It l rose to the #1 position  on March 30th for a four-week stay. The song later became the center of one of the most publicized lawsuits in music history. The estate of songwriter Ronnie Marks won the suit against former Beatle George Harrison, saying that the song My Sweet Lord, was a note-for-note copy of He’s So Fine. The Chiffons also scored big with One Fine Day, Sweet Talkin’ Guy and others.

Hope everyone had a great Thursday! — Not having my ‘Dear Boy’ around has messed up my El Morno schedule, or at least that is my story and I am sticking to it! I will catch you bright and early tomorrow!

P.S. If you thought today was tortila chip day it wasn’t, I thought it was but Banana nut bread is today, and tortila chip day is tomorrow..so I corrected Odd.  Sorry. Hope I did not ruin your life, or anything!

  1. Katybeth I bet people were starting to get worried wondering where you are. Glad to see the post. I do enjoy them. Most time I dont know what to say as a comment. But I read them and find them very entertaining and informative. And even without knowing it was a special day for these, I gave my dogs doggie biscuits, ate some salsa and chips, and yesterday my husband brought home some girl scouts cookies. Tagalongs are my favorite with thin mints close behind.

    • Thanks Kathy…I figured this post would go without comment–except from Mike. Who knew I was going to be MIA. I am glad you celebrated. I like thin mints followed by Tagalongs. Rascal is not picky. Mailed the card today :-D. If you remind me I will mention your mom on El Morno on her birthday.

      • Thank you so much Katybeth for the card.:) Looking forward to getting the mail every day. I am getting so excited as it gets closer and closer. March the 13th is her special day. 🙂

  2. Final computer check. Can we expect El Morno tomorrow morning or will you be sleeping in? Just kidding, everyone needs a day off once in awhile.
My girl scout cookies were just delivered by the neighbor girl. She was late too. Cute kid and she actually walks with her mom around the neighborhood selling them.
Have a nice EL NIGHTO. See you in the MORNO. TGIF.

  3. Darling Doggie loves dog biscuits but won’t eat Greenies (at least, I won’t give them to him any more since he got sick on the only one my sister gave him, ha!) Bet your house is feeling empty without Cole!
