★~ Beauticians Day:
I had a nightmare a while back where I was sitting in a beauty parlor (yes a beauty parlor) and the beautician looked at me and said, “Honey it’s not your hair, it’s your chin.” I was jolted awake and immediately made an appointment for a perm. If, my boat come’s in, trust me, I’m having a do-over on several area’s of the old body–the chin included but until that boat docks I’m in living in denial. It’s the hair! Today we celebrate the beauticians, barbers, and color techs who understand and appreciate our endless whining about our hair and try so hard to bring us closer to the illusive, perfect hair style.
★~Chocolate Pudding Day:
Vanilla pudding and butterscotch pudding also have their own holidays, but if chocolate’s your favorite flavor (and really, isn’t it everyone’s?) then today is your lucky day. In addition to being a popular dessert, at the turn of the century chocolate pudding was also served to the sick because it was a good source of calories for people with no appetite. Which is exactly why I do not like it! Have you ever seen chocolate pudding on a hospital tray? I digress, my little pudding pops, did you know that in Australia that pudding is baked and is has a similar texture to cake? It is typically made from flour, baking powder, sugar, eggs and cocoa powder. Now that sounds GOOD.
★~ Today in History:
♥~ 1819 – The bicycle was patented by W.K. Clarkson, Jr. of New York City.
♥~ 1964 – A Hard Day’s Night was released by United Artists Records. The album featured all original material by The Beatles and became the top album in the country by July 25, 1964.
♥~ 1965 – Mr. Tambourine Man, by The Byrds, reached the number one spot on the pop music charts. The song was considered by many to be the first folk-rock hit. The tune was written by Bob Dylan, as were two other hits for the group: All I Really Want to Do and My Back Pages.
♥ ~ 1985 – You’ve heard of players, managers and owners being ejected from baseball games, right? But have you ever heard of an organist being given the heave-ho? It happened at Jack Russell Stadium in Clearwater, Florida (the home of the Philadelphia Phillies during spring training; a Class A League team uses the stadium the rest of the season). Wilbur Snapp played Three Blind Mice following a call by umpire Keith O’Connor. The umpire was not amused and saw to it that Mr. Snapp was sent to the showers.
♥~ 1974 – The first Universal Product Code (UPC) was scanned at a Marsh’s Supermarket in Troy Ohio. The first item scanned was a pack of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit Gum. The pack of gum is on display at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.
♥~ 1999 – A 2-year-old rooster named Henry crowed 42 times in 30 minutes to win 46th annual Rooster Crow in Rogue River, Oregon.

★~ Did you Know:
♥~ Although Leonardo da Vinci drew some rough sketches of a contraption that looked like a bicycle, the Frenchman De Sivrac built the first bicycle-type vehicle in 1690. It was referred to as a hobbyhorse. However, it did not have pedals. Those were added in 1840 by a Scottish blacksmith, Kirkpatrick Macmillan, who is credited with inventing the real bicycle. On June 26, 1819, W. K. Clarkson Jr., of New York, was granted a US patent, possibly the first for a velocipede
♥~ There are about a billion bicycles in the world, twice as many as motorcars. Almost 400 million bicycles are in China. Every year some 50 million bicycles – and 20 million cars – are produced.
♥~ The bicycle as we know it today – with two wheels of the same size – looks almost exactly the same as one from 1900.
♥~ 15 bicycles can be parked in the same space that one car takes.
♥~ Cycling three hours or 18 miles per week halves your risk of heart disease and strokes.
♥~ On average, Americans use their bikes for every one trip out of a hundred trips – the Dutch use their bikes 30 times out of a hundred.
♥~ The bicycle is the most efficient vehicle ever devised; a human on a bicycle is more efficient (in calories expended per pound and per mile) than a train, truck, airplane, boat, car, motorcycle or jet pack. Ducks, however, are still more efficient.
♥~ The fastest man on a bicycle is an American, John Howard who rode his bicycle nearly 155 per hour in the slipstream of a specially designed car. He survived to tell the tale.

Yes, I know that it is almost noon….it has to do with a boy, a pingpong table, dog and chicken. You understand, right? It’s summer.
How much would you pay for the perfect haircut? For your initial investment the haircut would stay “perfect” until you were ready to change it. Just because it’s perfect does not mean you wouldn’t get tried of it….I would pay at least a $1,000 and travel.
Odd Loves Company!
Will you hate me if I tell you I like my hair? Worn the same style almost my whole life. I have it cut every 6 weeks from the same guy who has been cutting it since I was in my 20’s. He’s planning to retire but the other barber knows how I like it. Costs me $12.00 with tip and I’m generous. I like chocolate pudding but would never order it out.
Have a good one! And watch out for those pingpong paddles and chickens.
Mike I could never hate you but I might wonder about you–just a little….
I would pay at least $1,000 for a perfect haircut even if it meant my kids had to eat bread and drink only water for a month and I would never ever change it…NEVER.
Hate chocolate pudding.
Have a great day.
Me too Liz!! We would never tire of the perfect hair cut!
I got a hair cut once for $110.00 I thought it was outrageous. A friend gave me a spa package as graduation gift, or I wouldn’t dream of spending that much on my hair. Although I hate my hair, I’m very low maintenance when it comes to it.
But Sendi this is THE PERFECT HAIRCUT and it will last forever if you don’t get tired of it. Now how much would you pay?
