Tubby on the run!
The word mutt is used to describe a dog that comes from a mix of two or more different dog breeds. Rather than creating a celebration for one type of dog over another type of dog, why not celebrate our own unique, special pups that have value far beyond their breeding (whatever that might be!).
★~ Uncommon Instrument Awareness Day:
Have you ever heard of a wakrapuku, a Javanese bonang or a kaval? As long as there has been music, there have been people creating new, unique, and sometimes just plain odd ways to create sound. I had no idea there were so many strange instruments out there! The mountain dulcimer (video above) is a type of stringed instrument that was common during the 1700s in the mountainous southern United States.
★~ Jump for Jelly Beans Day
Candy-lovers everywhere please stop what ever you are doing and jump for joy and show your appreciation for jelly beans. These tiny candies evolved from an ancient confection called “Turkish delight,” which was one of the earliest forms of hard candy. Our modern-day jelly beans gained popularity during the American Civil War. A candy company in Boston began marketing jelly beans as the perfect treat to send to soldiers, and soon everyone was hooked. One of the most famous jelly bean fans is President Ronald Reagan. He served them at his inauguration! I like the red one’s.

Rabbit Rabbit Reminder! Today is the last day of the July and you know what that means don’t you? It’s time to prepare for the first of the month and all that can be yours by saying ”rabbit, rabbit!” The first words out of your mouth on the first day of August must be “rabbit, rabbit.”
Today is Dave Tucci’s (our bestest family friend) birthday. It would be great if you took a minute and clicked on his “Family Matters Ah Ha” Moment and voted for it. All it takes is one click – no sign-up, no email, no sales pitch. You can click and vote every day until the contest ends on August 7th.
Wishing everyone a Fab Friday. I’ll be back over the weekend to share a few stories (little coke’s and Salmon cakes). El Moro will resume on Monday.
Odd Loves Company,
I’ve been late all day. Slept past the alarm for the first time in years. I’m ready for rabbit rabbit.
Nice pups. What is a cat mutt? I am pretty sure Harry is just a cat. But he’s a fine cat.
I voted. I’ll try and remember over the weekend.
Playing golf this weekend. It’s suppose to cool off a bit but we are going for early starts both days.
Have a good one.
I think the mutt version of a cat is a “Domestic Cat” or a house cat. Just call Harry a special cat.
Thanks for voting!
As Ilene would say— Stay hydrated!
Woo Hoo, I remembered Rabbit Rabbit! Always nice to start a new month on a high note.
Love the video of the husky(?) “leaping” over the pole — yes, that’s exactly what Dallas would do, grab for the treat at any cost!!
I like jelly beans but rarely buy them. Dearly departed Dad was the only one in the house to like licorice-flavored ones (or so he said). I’m with you on the red ones, though orange and yellow aren’t bad either.
Good Job!
Go for the treat—seems smart to me. I buy some jelly beans at Easter or at least eat a few.
I’ve had mutts & purebreds. Love them all.
Tubby has the right idea. Shortest distance between two points is a straight line!
A nice laugh at the agility dog. Reminds me of Nik’s long intro to the sport!
I’ll chew any color/flavor jelly bean except the black licorice. Yuck. My brother enjoys them…….he can have them! For me, a purely Easter candy.
Forgot Rabbit Rabbit. Again.
Stay hydrated!
Tubby is such a character. I just love him. He is always up for fun and has such an easy disposition.
Not a fan of black bean either. I’ll second your Yuck.
Ok. Say Rabbit Rabbit twice while hopping backwards and you are all set. I am sending you 12 Rabbit Rabbit post a notes. 😀
I have found that I love carbonated water. It is so festive!
