The curmudgeons, the cranky pants, the sourpusses. Who says you have to be cheery all the time? On Sourest Day we see the balance in life and nature. Without the sour, there’d be no sweet. Life giving you lemons? Today’s the day to shout about it. Reserve the right to be grumpy, irritable, and sour about the world and everything in it.

Take a break from all those wheatgrass shots, fiber cereals and bowls of quinoa you have eaten to stay healthy. Today, fat-loving friends, is National Greasy Foods Day. After moving to the U.S. and settling in Los Angeles, she was signed by Capitol Records. How about a joke today? It amused me. Actually it made me laugh out loud and I’m easily amused. Are you ready….
The Bacon Tree
Two Mexicans are lost in the desert, wandering aimlessly and starving.
They are about to just lie down and wait for death, when all of a sudden Luis says:
“Hey Pepe, do you smell what I smell. Ees bacon, I theenk.”
“Is, Luis, eet sure smell like bacon.”
With renewed hope, they struggle up the next sand dune, & there, in the distance, is a tree loaded with bacon.
There’s raw bacon, there’s fried bacon, back bacon, double smoked bacon, every imaginable kind of cured pork.
“Pepe, Pepe, we ees saved! Ees a bacon tree!”
“Luis, maybe ees a meerage?
We ees in the desert don’t forget.”
“Pepe, since when deed you ever hear of a meerage that smell like bacon?
Ees no meerage, ees a bacon tree!”
With that, Luis staggers towards the tree.
He gets to within 5 yards, Pepe crawling close behind, when suddenly a machine gun opens up, and Luis drops like a wet sock.
Mortally wounded, he warns Pepe with his dying breath:
“Pepe, go back man, you was right, ees not a bacon tree!”
“Luis, Luis miamigo, what ees it?”
“Pepe ees not a bacon tree. Ees…
Ees…
Ees…
Ees…
Ees…
Ees…
Ees… a ham bush.”
And I bet you tried to do the accent didn’t you?

I feel much better but I took the rest of the week off….lying low. I don’t think I will be eating deep fried snickers but I could go for some fries a little later.

I love greasy food…not dripping in grease but the deep fried kind of grease. YUM. I studied Picasso in depth when I was in art school fascinating and egocentric man.
Funny Joke, my husband will love it. Like everyone else I will be anxious to find out if the motors purrs.
Me too…purring would be good. Very good. Deep fried is the best kind of grease! We have a Picasso statue in front of the Daley building downtown (I think) and it has never done much for me. His painting may be brillent but they make me a little dizzy.

i try to stay away from greasy foods although i am glad it has its own day. unfortunately, i more than make up for it in the sweets department.

I remember one of the coolest things about the microwave was you could ‘refresh” a donut in one. Our neighbors had one and it was way cool!
Still working on the project. It required another hardware store run and I could not find one open last night at 11:30—due tomorrow so tonights the night.
