★~ Rocky Road Ice Cream Day:
Here is the scoop on this delicious ice cream treat. Rocky Road ice cream was invented in 1929, after the stock market crash, when the founder of Dreyer Ice Cream, William Dreyer, calmed his Black Thursday nerves by creating the Original Rocky Road. Mixing chunky almonds, mini marshmallows and delicious milk chocolate ice cream, he created a flavor of ice cream that would make people smile during the tough economic times of the Great Depression. It instantly became an American favorite and its fame soon spread to the rest of the world.
Did you know that in Australia, people add jam to their Rocky Road ice cream? And in the United Kingdom, people add cherries and raisins? Rocky Road is mostly associated with ice cream, but you can also make….

Bubba was bragging to his boss one day, “You know, I know everyone there is to
know. Just name someone, anyone, and I know them. “
Tired of his boasting, his boss called his bluff, “OK, Bubba how about Tom
Cruise? “
“Sure, yes, Tom and I are old friends, and I can prove it. ” So Bubba and his
boss fly out to Hollywood and knock on Tom Cruise’s door, and sure enough, Tom
Cruise, shouts, “Bubba! Great to see you! You and your friend come right in and
join me for lunch! “
Although impressed, Bubba’s boss is still skeptical. After they leave Cruise’s
house, he tells Bubba that he thinks
Bubba’s knowing Cruise was just lucky.
“No, no, just name anyone else, ” Bubba says.
“President Obama, ” his boss quickly retorts.
“Yep, ” Bubba says, “I know him, let’s fly out to Washington. ” And off they go.
At the White House, Obama spots Bubba on the tour and motions him and his boss
over, saying, “Bubba, what a surprise, I was just on my way to a meeting, but
you and your friend come on in and let’s have a cup of coffee first and catch
up. “
Well, the boss is very shaken by now, but still not totally convinced.
After they leave the White House grounds, he expresses his doubts to Bubba, who again implores him to name anyone else.
“The Pope, ” his boss replies. “Sure! ” says Bubba. “I’ve known the Pope a long
time. ”
So off they fly to Rome. Bubba and his boss are assembled with the masses in Vatican Square when Bubba says,
“This will never work. I can’t catch the Pope’s eye among all these
people. Tell you what, I know all the guards so let me just go upstairs and I’ll
come out on the balcony with the Pope. ” And he disappears into the crowd headed
toward St. Peter’s.
Sure enough, half an hour later Bubba emerges with the Pope on the balcony. But by the time Bubba returns, he finds that his boss has had a heart attack and is surrounded by paramedics. Working his way to his boss’s side, Bubba asks him, “What happened? “
His boss looks up and says, “I was doing fine until you and the Pope came out on the balcony and the Japanese tourist next to me asked, “Who’s that on the balcony with Bubba? “
It is written that this joke must be told and passed down through the generations every Bubba Day!

Dearly departed Joe died today in 2009. I’ll be back to muse, share some thoughts and pictures a little later. . .
♥~
Odd Loves Company!
Morno,
I’ve known some pretty good Bubba’s. They seem to get the job done. Rocky road is a good flavor for a cone. My daughter was born in late June, so I’ve always thought it was a pretty good month. Old joke, but funny.
I’m getting some stuff done today and taking my sister and family out for dinner tonight. It’s my turn to cook
RIP Joe.
Have a good one.
Old jokes are some of the funniest….Right? Where did you all go for dinner? I like how you cook…I bet clean up is a snap!
I am so glad that your Cole is home now to share your memories of your Joe. Always easier that way (if you can call it easy) to have loved ones around at any time but especially at times like this.
I sure hope the sun is shining in Chicago. It is cloudy here today and the temp is a COLD 53*. Where is summer???
Summer…I have a distant memory…..It is easier having Cole around. . .we validate each other memories.
Morno,
Home from Church. Loved the joke. Aren’t all plumbers called Bubba? At least the good ones? Rocky Road ice cream is a great flavor. June will be a good month. I am going to Paris for a week with a girlfriend. I can’t wait.
Cleaning and then heading out to a movie.
Enjoy your day with Cole. Peace be with you ♥
All plumbers should be called Bubba! Paris–well La De Da!! Paris in June–such FUN.
Peace. I like that.
Joe was one of the good ones. RIP Joe, and I’ll give your old pal Joey some extra pats on memory of you.
Thanks Joey was always one of Joe’s favorites. He beagled right into his heart. Odd–Joey was the name of you pup….and Joe’s middle name was Ben.
I’m sorry this is a sad day of remembrance for you and Cole; perhaps sharing good memories of life with Joe will help?
It’s a cold, gray 62 degrees here. Where’s the sun they promised us??
Like your stories about Bubba. Funny, but I’ve never had a worker — plumber, electrician, yard man, etc. — named Bubba. I like picturing Bubba on the balcony with the Pope, though!
It was cold here too. I wore a hoodie.
No Bubba’s? We have to work on that one!
It doesn’t seem possible Joe died 4 years ago. i’m glad you and Cole and Johnny had a pleasant day.

It’s always interesting hanging out with Cole and Johnny.
rocky road is not a favorite, but i’d take a bowl right now.
i, too, am glad cole was home to share reflections of joe with you today. time does pass quickly, doesn’t it?
Time does pass quick. Well, don’t worry I think we celebrate almost every flavor of ice cream during the summer!
