“Here’s an odd fowl, that walks backward to go forward so she can look behind to see where she went!” Click the picture to watch the short backwards clip.

Watch a movie’s last scene first and you’ll save yourself the time of sorting through all the messy plot details. Walk backwards down the street and you’re sure to have more than a few surprise encounters. Pay it backwards and let the person in back of you move ahead of you. Have a little FUN on Backwards day and shake up the day-to-day drums-hums

★~ Brandy Alexander Day:

Brandy Alexander

The Brandy Alexander is a tasty chocolate cocktail that became popular in the 1920s. Its predecessor was the gin-based Alexander cocktail, which was all but abandoned once the “Alexander #2” arrived on the scene.

According to legend, the first Brandy Alexander cocktail appeared at the wedding of Princess Mary and Viscount Lascelles in London in 1922. It wasn’t long before the cocktail became a pop culture icon. You can find references to Brandy Alexander in countless movies, television shows, and songs. It was also John Lennon’s drink of choice, but he liked to refer to it as his “milkshake.”

To make a Brandy Alexander, combine 1½ oz. brandy, 1½ oz. crème de cacao, and 2 oz. heavy cream or soy creamer. Shake vigorously in a shaker half-filled with ice, and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with some nutmeg and enjoy! Cheers!

  1. Morno,
Funny about the tape. A sniffer of brandy is nice, not sure about that drink.
I’m an Ox. God help me.
Pony is bad. Kid seems to take it in stride.
    Have a good one.

  2. Oh man—that pony WAS naughty!!!! Glad they put the disclaimer on there that no one was hurt. 🙂 I am year of the Rat—be prepared for change seems pretty accurate about now. 🙂
Never had a Brandy Alexander but remember my mother in law got pretty sick on them one time. Once was enough for her….she never had them again.

    • Wicked! I suspect that the kid was a little wicked too. I think once you get sick on something like a Brandy Alexander you never go back there again. A rat? Can you change? How about a nice tiger??

  3. My Chinese dog walking neighbor has been keeping us up to date on the family’s celebration plans & the excitement of their grandsons. I am Year of the Dog….. how appropriate! Prediction for this year rings true for me. Certainly pertained to last year.
Nik has mastered walking forward while staring at whatever intrigues her from behind.
    Humorous naming of Scotch Tape!
Will watch the naughty pony later.
I see you are warming up. Stay warm!

    • My Chinese dog walking neighbor—I have to wonder what kind of dog she walks?
      Nik is very clever!
The Scotch tape was funny. I had to run it by Snoops to make sure it was a true story but indeed it is.
6-8 inches of snow tomorrow and we had/have plans to take the Bug out. We’ll see.

  4. I can’t even THINK about walking backwards today — not as clumsy as I am, ha!
Thanks for the reminder about Rabbit Rabbit.
Seems like Chinese food should be the food for the day, doesn’t it — with Chinese New Year near and all??
    Never knew that about Milwaukee!
    Have a super Friday!

    • I should be the food of the day—I guess it isn’t because of how the dates for the Chinese year fluctuate. However, we can take charge next year and make it so. Good Idea!
      Milwaukee surprised me too!
Forward movement only in your case.
It was a pretty darn good Friday.

  5. I almost fixed Chinese food for lunch. The place where I have my nails done was all excited this week about the New Year’s today.
I used to love Brandy Alexanders.

    • Did you tip the Buddha? I think your suppose too. Maybe a peppermint or something. I wanted Chinese food today but ate left-overs instead since your dear boy was out for the evening.

  6. My sister fixed us Chinese food for dinner. We had some excellent wine. (I like white wine when it’s sweet.) The brandy Alexander sounds delicious.
Best wishes for the Year of the Horse.
