★~  Today’s Quote: Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it ~ Confucius

★~  Just Because Day:

Today is the day to create some “just because” time — a day to do things for no apparent reason. We spend so much time doing stuff because we need to do it and have to do it. Wouldn’t it be fun to do something just because? Go crazy and buy yourself something you normally wouldn’t splurge on; say hello to someone you’ve never had the nerve to speak to; snort when you laugh; howl at the moon; skip rather than walk; give a fake name to your Starbucks; sing with the car windows down; make faces at a crying kid in a shopping cart; ask someone if they know why you love them; and most of all, when they ask, answer, “Just because!”

★~ “The Duchess” Who Wasn’t Day:

At least once today, slip the famous quotation “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” into your conversation. This day celebrates the life of Margaret Wolfe Hungerford, a novelist who often wrote under the pseudonym “The Duchess,” which was the title of her most popular novel. Margaret is responsible for the popular phrase “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” which appeared in her book Molly Bawn

★~  Banana Lover’s Day:

The average person eats about 33 pounds of bananas a year. Holy bananas! People don’t just love bananas, they LOVE bananas. The obvious way to celebrate Banana Day is to sing the “banana-fanna-fo-fana” name game song everywhere you go. Sing it to your kids, your spouse, your friends, and the person checking you out at the supermarket (after you check his or her name tag). Or perhaps you would like offer a toast to bananas with a Chocolate Monkey, Scooby Snack, or June Bug banana liqueur drink? Ok, I will quite monkeying around . . . I’m sure you will find the perfect way to show your love and appreciation for the banana. Click here for a my collection of  banana tips and trivia. Cole demonstrates how to peel a banana correctly

★~  Pots de Creme Day:

The French know cream sauces, and they know their desserts. Today, we celebrate the perfect combination of the two — National Pots de Crème Day! What are pots de crème? Pots de crème refers to both the custard dessert as well as the small lidded pots this dessert is served in. Pots de crème, or pot-au-crème, translates to English as “pot of cream”. The French do not have a word for “custard”; the dish is simply referred to as “crème”. Today is the perfect day to make a Pot de Crème with Banana Caramel Sauce. Ooo la la, un peu plus, s’il vous plait!

♥~ In 1979, Mother Teresa was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitutes a threat to peace.”  She refused the conventional ceremonial banquet given to laureates, and asked that the $192,000 funds be given to the poor in India

She has also been criticized for her view on suffering.  She felt that suffering would bring people closer to Jesus.

  1. I don’t know what to celebrate first. Love banana’s. Love Pots de Creme. Maybe I will have both today. Just because! 😀

  2. Funny about the Duchess who wasn’t. I had no idea where that saying came from. Mother Teresa and Confucius born on the same day! I would say that is amazing.

    Have a super Saturday.
