★~ Todays Sunrise: Nag’s Head N.C. taken by Merrilymarylee’s BroJoe. Isn’t it magnificent?

★~ Today’s Quote:  If you don’t get everything you want, think of the things you don’t get that you don’t want.  ~Oscar Wilde

★~ Positive Thinking Day:

Positive people focus their feelings on joy, happiness, health, prosperity, harmony, and love. They seek successful outcomes and take positive actions to create that reality. Positive thinkers live in solutions, not problems.

Ok—now back to the real world. Some days suck. A lot of rain falls in your life, and even though you start the day feeling happy and harmoniousness, a big old bus comes barreling by and splashes mud and rainwater all over you and your clothes. Some people might remind you with a positive smile that at least the bus did not hit you….Those people are not your friends. Poke them hard with your umbrella. Feeling a little better, you should now go and buy your cuppa and a muffin and spend some time glowering at the whole world. A little while later, when the sun comes out and your zip-a-dee-doo-dah returns, you will naturally become more positive and radiate joy…but just in case, keep the poking end of your umbrella close at hand.

★~National Defy Superstition Day:

If a black cat crosses your path today, look him straight in his beady little eyes and say, “You’re not my mom!”

★~ Peanut Day:

Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a peanut just now. Just now I found a peanut,

found a peanut just now. I could not resist. Ok, fine; I can resist.

The peanut started off in South America, but now its crunchy shells can be found littering the floors of sports bars all over the world. That’s one well-traveled legume. And without peanuts there’d be no peanut butter. Can you imagine such a world?

Speaking of legumes, that is technically what peanuts are. Legumes are simple dry fruits in the same family as peas and beans. But much better!

Celebrate the peanut with the obvious—a peanut butter sandwich—or bake up a batch of peanut butter cookies, watch a ballgame with a bag of whole peanuts, or enjoy a sprinkling of peanuts on an ice cream sundae. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you can follow in the footsteps of George Washington Carver, who discovered over 300 practical uses for peanuts. Carver, a graduate of Iowa State University, discovered ways to use peanuts in shampoo, fuel, dyes, and flours.

★~ Snack a Pickle Time:

I’m considering frying pickles today. For my whole life I have always wanted to tried fried pickles, and so today I might just fulfill a lifetime dream. And you can say, if asked, that you were one of the first to know!

Don’t let the pickle play second fiddle to your sandwich today. Give the pickle a chance to stand alone and be enjoyed as a snack.

  1. What a magnificent sunrise! I hope to see many of them next year in Europe, especially in Paris. You know me well enough to know that I don’t get out of bed early in time to see them ,unless I have a plane to catch and I’m on vacation.

  2. WOW. What a beautiful sunrise. Magnificent. Love how the light shoots out.
A positive poke! I like it.

    Have a great day.

  3. I can’t eat peanut! I love them but just ate one I will grow pimple in a quickness, one time a friend told me “eat the pimple, you’ll grow a peanut.” I want to poke him with my umbrella! Beautiful sunrise picture!! 🙂

  4. No peanuts for me; however, oddly, I CAN eat smooth peanut butter! Go figure. Same holds for oranges which I can eat and OJ which I can’t. I know — I’ve got an odd stomach!

  5. That was a beautiful photo. I want to go to the beach!!!! I love water and have never lived around it, so I always put a water element in my yard where ever we move.
My brother was just telling me about fried pickles last week, he made them.
Mariah, is she the dumbest thing alive???
