★~ Today’s Picture: Thank you, Merrily Marylee, for the beautiful Sunrise picture. The El Morno crowd appreciates your thoughtful share!
★~ Today’s Quote: “Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” ~ C. S. Lewis
★~ Electronic Greeting Card Day:
Save a letter carrier, save a tree, save a stamp! Today’s the day to send your greetings the free, electronic way, via the Internet.
Reality! Who can afford a “real card?” Sheesh, the last time I turned a Hallmark card over it was $4.50. Even if you don’t send your very best, a card is going to cost $2.00 before you add a stamp. My mom and I had a pretty good solution for a while. We would buy cards and send them to each other without signing them, so that we could send them again. This stopped working when my mom starting sending the cards I sent to her back to ME. It took a couple times before I noticed, but I’m not a dumb little kid any longer. I caught on.
This Thanksgiving, Sendi sent me an electronic greeting card from Denny Doherty and I really loved it. A lot. Very classy and FUN. Our El Morno friend Carol also loves the site. I decided to buy a one-year membership, which was only $12.00 (don’t tell my mom but I might buy her a membership for Christmas). I don’t want to offend anyone, but free e-cards don’t bring a tear to anyone’s eye.
Celebrate e-card day by sending an e-card, but please avoid this one: Taylor Swift soars in the background and it reads “Being fearless isn’t being 100% unafraid, it’s being terrified, but jumping anyway…”
★~ Square Dance Day:
My last experience with square dancing was when Cole was in 8th grade, and he squarely hated it. I felt so sorry for the teachers who had to teach his class. The boys simple were not into Do Sa Do, hated to Allemande, and don’t even mention the Promenade… I shared my experience of learning the Virginia Real when I was a teen with Cole and he wondered what the square dance call for lefty-loosey, righty-tighty was, making a rather rude and lame reference to my struggle to keep left and right straight. I hate kids. Anyway, it could be fun to Do Sa Do today…or not
★~ National Lemon Cream Pie Day:
According to culinary historians, people have been enjoying lemon-flavored custards and desserts since the Middle Ages. Chefs during this time period also used lemons to “perfume” the water they used for cooking. This was supposed to give their dishes a refreshing flavor.
The classic lemon cream pie that we know and love today emerged in the 1920s. Bake your own or pick one up at your local bakery in honor of National Lemon Cream Pie Day!

EL Morno is packed this morning.Lemon pie is one of my favorites. Very refreshing. Did not know that about Lemons.
Love the pigs and appreciate the update on Tiny Tim!
Have a good one!
Hope you had a piece of Lemon pie! I snorted at the pig cartoon too! A very genteel snort, of-course.
Loved the e-card link. I am going to buy a membership. Beautiful whimsical cards and very reasonable.
The sunrise picture is so beautiful!
Little women is one of my favorite books.
Thanks for giving me lots to talk about today.Stay warm.
Jen
Your Welcome! Aren’t the cards pretty and fun? I just love them.
Thanks for dropping by Jen!
I had to take square dancing as a P.E. requirement my first semester in college (all the good classes had filled up because I had a late registration time slot!). It was at 8 o’clock in the morning, just what every college freshman needs and wants! I learned quite a bit, though if given the choice, I’d much rather eat a slice of lemon cream pie than do the dosado thing!
You and me both…and can you even imagine yourself in a square dance costume? Square dancing at 8am? Sheesh!
I’m not sure what they were trying to teach the 8th grade boys…Cole thought he should have been rewarded a “I survived square dancing t-shirt” Cole can be a bit dramatic.
I have had Jaquie Lawson’s site for over 3 years now. Love her animated cards and the animals are so clever. You will be sending cards all the time now, KB..Enjoy.
I already am Carol! I love the site. Your right they are beautiful and clever.
