★~ Today’s Quote: She gave me a smile I could feel in my hip pocket. ~Raymond Chandler
★~ Smile Power Day:
Show off your super smile today! Go ahead and flash those pearly whites at everyone you meet. Smiling is powerful because it makes you feel great and the world a happyier place.
★~ Lobster Day:
Boil ’em, grill ’em, steam ’em or bake ’em. No matter how you decide to cook ‘em, lobster is very tasty. The largest American lobster ever caught weighed over 44 pounds and was about 3.5 feet long. Wonder who picked that one out of the tank.
★~ Duct Tape:
Duct tape- What can’t you use it for? This highly adhesive, fabric-backed, two-inch-wide tape is so beloved of electricians, plumbers and handymen everywhere. At home, you can use it to repair the remote control that’s lost the plastic bit on the back that keeps the batteries in, the hem of a skirt, the hole in the toe of your beloved sneakers.
Duct tape promotes an old-world virtue of making something last, repairing it rather than throwing it out and buying a new one. Because you don’t bother to duct tape something unless you really can’t live without it, it speaks of love and need. Perhaps for this reason, duct tape confers a special shabby loveliness on things. It makes the patched and mended picturesque. As WB Yeats wrote, things fall apart. But duct tape holds them together. Sort of. Check out Did You Know does below for some great ways to use duct tape.

Cole is on his first road trip alone-he is heading to Rockford, Il. to hang out with classmates who are spending time with one of the classmates grandmother. I know the grandmother and would enjoy hanging out with her myself; she is fun, gracious, and loves being surrounded by beautiful things. I hugged Cole goodbye, told him to have fun, be mindful (I stopped saying be “careful” at the suggestion of a friend, years ago, when she pointed out that saying be careful imposed my fear on Cole, while saying be mindful suggested that he is the one in control of the situation) and remind him not to do anything stupid because if anything happened to him my life would be over. It’s always about the Mom.
If it makes you smile, giggle or laugh…Do it again!
Odd Loves Company!
I always have a roll of duct tape with me. I’m pretty handy but in a pinch or away from my tools there isn’t much duct tape can’t offer a temporary fix.
Funny thing, we are having lobster this weekend. It will be my son’s homecoming meal.
TGIF!
Enjoy your son and your lobster! I bet duct tape is handy even on the golf course!
I made duct tape wallets for my nephews years ago and they absolutely loved them. One of them still uses his and is asking for another one. Back when I first made them the only color duct tape came in was silver so it might be fun to make him another one in the color of his choice. Getting everything square was a bit of challenge but it really wasn’t hard.
They look really cool! I might suggest this project to Cole. He is the crafty one!
Glad you were in the neighborhood!
Date night tonight and I know what I want for dinner! I will tell my DH that we have to celebrate Lobster Day!
KB you are such a great mixture of New Age and Common Sense-I love what you say to Cole.
Have a great Day.
Thanks I try…..Hope you enjoyed every bite of your lobster!
I wish I was home in Belvidere,Il. I would love to see Cole again and would treat him to a meal before he headed back to Chicago . I will never forget him and his curls when I saw him at Waldorf when Aidan was there years ago. So adorable.
Hope you are enjoying your trip and family. Cole had a lovely time in Rockford…Maybe next time he can take you to dinner! If you promise not to lead him astray! 😀
