★~ Today’s Quote: Knowing your own darkness is the best method for dealing with the darknesses of other people_ Carl Jung
★~ All or Nothing Day:
All or Nothing Day is the day when we live as if there were no tomorrows. It is a chance to face fears, overcome challenges, and mend friendships. Stop letting things hold you back. Go for it if you’re gonna go for it, and quit making excuses. Carpe diem—seize the day.
★~ Aunt and Uncle Day:
I love my aunts and uncles. They have always been a big part of My Odd Family. I could entertain you for days with family stories, but then I would have to let them share their stories. Here is just one story: Almost Run Over by a Suitcase.
Cousins Day was on July 24, and Cousin Carla is visiting me right this minute. Last night she informed Cole that she had an infliction called misophonia. Have you heard of it? Misophonia, literally a hatred of sound, is a form of decreased sound tolerance. Cousin Carla explained that she is often bugged by people breathing, eating nuts or cereal, and drinking tea. After hearing this, I found it awkward to breathe or eat my ice cream. On the other hand, my insensitive son simple opened his eyes with wonder, searched for a Facebook group for her, and expressed amazement that there was a neurosis for everything.
★~ Coffee Milkshake Day:
Coffee Lovers REJOICE! Beat the July heat and celebrate Coffee Milkshake Day by sipping your favorite brew—frozen instead of steaming hot.

♥~ 1903 – Horatio Nelson Jackson, a 31-year-old San Francisco physician and auto enthusiast, completed the first successful automobile drive across the United States — in a slighly used Winton. Jackson was accompanied by Sewall Crocker, who served as mechanic and backup driver on the cross-country trip. The trip took 63 days, 12 hours, and 30 minutes (they had left San Francisco on May 23); cost $8,000; and left a transcontinental trail littered with broken parts, tools, clothes, flat tires and tears. At the time, there were no gas stations and less than 150 miles (240 kilometers) of paved roads between coasts
♥~ 1969 – Sharon Sites Adams, at age 31, achieved her goal of becoming the first woman to sail solo across the Pacific Ocean. Adams sailed 5,618 miles in her 31-foot Sea Harp from Yokohama, Japan to San Diego, California in 74 days (she left Yokohama on May 12).
♥~ 1969 – The Archies entered the Billboard Hot 100 with “Sugar Sugar.” The Archies singing voices, from the TV cartoon show, were all provided by studio backups Ron Dante and Toni Wine. One of the hand-clappers was Ray Stevens. It was the top song of 1969.

As I’m typing El Morno, Lada, my Doberman-Whippet, Zelda, our camp standard poodle, Ben, the Great Dane, and Rascal are all curled up in my bedroom to wait out a thunderstorm. I am trying to take a picture, but every time I move, they jump, so I am trying not to move. Cousin Carla is sleeping with the bird in her room. I will have to ask her about Solstice’s (the birds) breathing. God, I really hope she does not snore or grind her beak in her sleep. I need to go now so that I can write a post about our Oobleck party before the gang rises and shines. I’m not sure what today with hold, but I know that a chocolate martini is in my future (tonight!).
Do you have any interesting neurosis you will like to share?
Welcome back El Morno Queen. Happy Belated Birthday. I would have wished you a Happy Birthday on time but there wasn’t an El Morno for the last couple of days. Not that I would ever complain. I just offer this in way of an explanation for my belated Birthday wishes.
I like coffee ice cream so I’m sure a coffee milkshake would be good. No. I don’t have any neurosis.
Enjoy your rain.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. Yes I know El Morno was all out of whack this last week. Cousins and birthday’s just messed up our EL Morno routine…in a good way of-course!
No neurosis? mmmmm. Very interesting.
I have been called neurotic because I can not stand the sound, feel or look of cling wrap. I use foil or tupperware. Does that count?
Kb, Cousin Carla cooks, and helps with Oobleck parties she is allowed any and all neurosis.
Not a fan of coffee ice cream..So I might have ice cream and coffee but not together.
If I mix up some Oobleck for my kids do you swear it is not messy??
Cling Wrap counts! I will let you know the whole truth about Oobleck when I have completed the whole experience!
Your right, Cousin Carla can be an odd as she wants to be…
I don’t like strawberries because of the way they feel in my mouth — kind of like eating a man’s scruffy face. Weird, huh? Hope you’ll share some of that rain with Downstate!
Weird only because of the “man’s scruffy face” comparison. I am blowing rain your way as hard as I can!
Gosh I feel so out of it, I have no neurosis at all.
I like coffee ice cream but haven’t had it in a while. a chocolate Martini??? How dreadful!
MJ
