Two of my angels–Rascal and Scooby

★~  Todays Quote:  The wings of angels are often found on the backs of the least likely people.  ~Eric Honeycutt

★~ Be An Angel Day:

Every act of generosity can make a difference.  Extend a helping hand, offer a kind word, or show someone your gratitude.  Be a blessing in someone’s life!

★~Tooth Fairy Day:

Forbes Fictional ( The Tooth Fairy has made the list of Forbes 15 wealthiest fictional characters)

Tooth Fairy

Net Worth: $3.9 billion
Source: Inheritance
Ageless
Marital Status: Single
Education: Harvard University, School of Dental Medicine

Mythological sprite recently gifted multibillion-dollar grant from Santa Claus (who remains off Fictional 15 this year due to volume of letters to Forbes from children insisting that he is real). Endowment sufficient to finance annual tooth collection duties out of interest alone; Claus insisted on legally binding covenant forbidding spendthrift “Toothie” from touching principal, noting she blew through $145 million last year, mostly in very small cash gifts. Rumored to sell baby teeth to gray-market Chinese labs researching human cloning; other theories hold teeth are an ingredient in Colonel Sander’s secret Kentucky Fried Chicken recipe. New member.

Celebrate Tooth Fairy day by buying a new tube of toothpaste, toothbrushes, or by flossing with extra care. Or just toast her outstanding achievements.

★~ Eat a peach Day:

Peaches

Originally cultivated in China and once the fruit of the emperors, peaches were revered for bestowing good health and prosperity to all who ate them. An apple a day may keep the doctor away, but, if the legend is true, peach eaters live long and prosper!

Pick the perfect peach by GENTLY laying your palm around the fruit to feel whether it is firm or soft. DO NOT squeeze with your fingers and thumbs.

★~ National Spumoni Day: (in case you missed it yesterday :-D)

Slice! Never scoop. t’s National Spumoni Day! This Italian dessert is made from layers of ice cream, whipped cream, candied fruit, and nuts. It is typically made with three layers: chocolate, pistachio, and cherry. Each layer of ice cream is mixed with fruits and nuts. If you worry about confusing Spumoni with Zamboni here is a tip: Spumoni is made with fruit and nuts. Zambonis are made with bolts and nuts. It is also much easier to slice Spumoni than it is to slice a Zamboni.

★~ Did You Know:

Don’t you hate when you’ve got a hankering for a peach but the one’s you bought are are still a little green.  Or you want to slice some avocado into your salad but they’re hard as, well, unripened avocados? Here is a tip that might help.

Place the peach or avocados in a brown paper bag with a ripe apple inside. The fruit will emit ethylene gas, a naturally occurring hormone, which speeds up the ripening process. (It also stimulates flowers to open and leaves to turn colors in the autumn.)

Make sure you use a paper bag because plastic ones don’t breathe well and moisture may build up in the bag causing the fruit to rot.

This classic ripening tip also works well for just about about any fruit…so give it a try.

Cole  made this FUN marshmallow roaster. This is his rustic design.  Next he wants to make one that is more decorative. As long as it keeps him busy, happy and he does not burn the house down…I say create away.

Odd Loves Company!

  1. Morno!
Peaches are probably my favorite fruit. Thanks for the second chance to celebrate Spamoni day. I’m an angel every day. Well, maybe not every day.
    Cole is clever!
    Make it a good one

  2. Ok, if you won’t let me send you my kids next summer for two weeks…will you send me Cole? The fire pit is so cool.
Fine I will deliver the lunch and gym back without complaint or a lecture in responsibility in honor of Angel Day but tomorrow I go back to being a less than angelic mom!
    Your pups are SO CUTE!
    Have a winsome Wednesday.

  3. I’m BACK Kids are in school and I finally have some computer time again. I’m with Liz –I think you should run Camp Odd. You have a lot of great ideas and we have kids that need you. Especially the last few weeks of summer!
Rascal and Scooby are so cute! Great picture.

  4. That marshmello roaster is the berries! My Grandson is soooo clever! I thought of him today. We ate at Garcia’s and I got sticky fingers, however, I also had a clean wipe. Naturally!

  5. What will Cole think up next? I swear, he could probably market that marshmallow roaster — much neater than a nasty-looking fire pit! Love your pups, too!

  6. Get a patten for that marshmellow roaster. He just may be on to his first million. Very cleaver. As for the spumoni, isn’t that the ice cream version of the dreaded Xmas fruitcake??. Love that Rascal and Scooby. Looks like to me there had been some scuffling going on before picture taken…(Rascal’s bent ear?)

    • Spumoni is a little like fruitcake. I like the American Neapolitan version better. Your right! My angels had just landed after a game of zommie.
