★~ National Cake Decorating Day:

Today we put the icing on the cake and maybe a pink rose of two. I love pink icing roses.   Celebrating today is a piece of a cake,  just bake a cake and decorate it. Or just buy a decorated cake. In any case wither you bake and decorate a cake, or buy a decorated cake–Today, you can have your cake and eat it too.

★~ National Bring Your Teddy Bear To Work Day: (always 2nd Wednesday in October)

“What day is it?”

It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.

My favorite day,” said Pooh.”

Today is a beary special day. Take your Teddy Bear to work or school and introduce him to your friends and co-workers and don’t forget to have honey at lunch because bears love honey!

★~ National Angel Food Cake Day:

Angel food cake iced with whipped cream and covered in strawberries is my favorite cake. Fluffy, light, moist . . . heavenly! I buy the cake at the grocery store and ice it at home, but I have also been known to eat it plain on my way home from the grocery store. I have tried to make them from scratch with less than spectacular results. Polish your halo and have a piece of angel food cake today!Angel Food Cake recipe

♥~1886 – Tuxedo Anniversary:Griswold Lorillard of Tuxedo Park, NY, fashioned the first tuxedo for men by cutting the tails off a tailcoat.  (George Clooney wears a tux well…don’t you think?)

♥~ 1956 – An 11,000-carat emerald was found in northern Transvaal, South Africa. The hugh gem was discovered by Charles Kempt and J. Botes.

When the book was originally submitted to various magazines, including The Atlantic and The New Yorker, it was dismissed and did not even make The New York Times bestseller list. 1. MORNO!

I will stop at the store on my way in to work and buy a decorated cakes. Everyone will moan and then eat every bite.
Those cakes are something. I wonder if they taste as good as they look.
    Have a good one!

    • I wondered the same think Mike. I know that you can eat the whole cake but nobody talked about how they taste. I’m sure your office cake was a huge hit!

  2. 11,000 carat emerald? That’s quite a find. I took a cake decorating class once. I had frosting on my eyebrows, total Lucy moment.

    • I would love to know what the polished emeralds sold for-from the raw stone! I can imagine that would be my experience with cake decorating just from making the bunny and a gingerbread house or two.

  3. El Morno!
OMG that George Clooney picture is so awesome!!!
Not to brag or anything but I made a pretty awesome Pooh Bear cake for my kids 2nd birthday. It had a 3 dimensional honey pot and everything. This would be my first child. The rest are treated to their choice of a grocery store cakes. I do try and make special cakes for “occasions” once in awhile…and I have all the tools from back in the days when I thought I could have kids and a hobby. I love that Bunny cake! I bet it will be easier the next time you make it.
Off to grocery shop. Maybe I will buy an angel food cake for dessert.
    Have a great day!

    • Yep George does look great in a Tux :-D. I would love to see a picture of your Pooh Bear cake. Hang on to your tools who know you might have time for a Hobby…. some day!

  4. I’m still salivating over those decorated cakes, each one more interesting than the next. A pirate cake? Arrr! A Rubik’s Cube that only took third place? Wonder what captured the grand prize??
And I can’t imagine an 11,000-carat emerald — must have been spectacular!
I’m glad your alarm got you out and about this morno. I’m facing a day of more coding, trying to iron out problems and teach myself what wasn’t even invented when I was in school. Wish me luck!

    • The learning curve sounds steep Debbie but I bet you are up to it! I thought all those cakes should have been first place winners! The emerald was raw and about 5lbs so it wasn’t too speculator until they started polish it up and make some stones out of it. But it sure had a lot of potential. 😀

  5. not much for angel food cake, but do like other kinds of cakes. some pretty spiffy looking cakes here. i am definitely not an artist though!
twister game was fun way back when. not so sure how flexible we are now!
