★~ Punk Day:
Throw on a British/Irish punk accent, dress like a punk rocker, and go forth and punk. Being punk means being bold, unique, and original. Crank up the Sex Pistols, the Ramones, the Dead Kennedys, the Dead Milkmen, the Clash, or the Cramps. Walk around singing “Punk for a Day” by L. A.’s Wasted Youth. Give the kids something to wonder about. Keep in mind though, Odd is not responsible for any anarchist activity you engage in today.
★~ Bologna Day:
Does anyone really like bologna (pronounced ba-lone-y)? I have always wondered . . . I guess there are more kinds of bologna than Oscar Meyer, including German bologna and kosher bologna. But it still blows my minds that Americans eat 800 million pounds of bologna annually. I mean what part of the cow, pig, chicken, or turkey is the bologna? One site says it is cooked and smoked with a wonderful bouquet of spices that add to its delicious flavor. Frankly, I think that is a bunch of baloney. However, if you are so inclined, add a slice or two to your sandwich today to celebrate Bologna Day!
★~ Good & Plenty Candy Day
Bologna Day and Good & Plenty Candy Day — does it get any better? God, I hope so. Am I just being a sourpuss? I’m sorry. To make it up to you, I will share a Good N’ Plenty cocktail recipe. Good N’ Plenty is a pink and white, soft and chewy licorice candy — just in case you have forgotten.
Late Breaking:
In an attempt to prove the effects of odors on sexual arousal, neurologist Alan Hirsch, M.D., and other researchers at the Smell and Taste Treatment Research Foundation in Chicago studied the effects of 30 different scents on the arousal of 31 male volunteers. While all of the scents produced some level of arousal, the winner was a combination of lavender and pumpkin pie. Other high-ranking items included orange and the combined scent of black licorice and doughnuts. In a similar experiment with women, Hirsch found that baby powder, as well as a mixture of Good and Plenty licorice candy and cucumber, were the top two sexually stimulating scents. Lavender and pumpkin pie also ranked high with women.

Fellow blogger and El Morno friend Beth Ann shared this TED talk yesterday on Facebook. I loved it. It spoke to something near and dear to my heart. Connection. Katie Clemons creates wonderful journals and in this Ted talk, she shares her own story; she calls herself a storycatcher…

Morno,
Family that bowls together never gets struck down.
I wonder if Walgreens sells Good & Plenty Candy-could make for an interesting day at work.
Have a good one.
True. I had to take a minute, but you are right. Not sure if Walgreens sells them, but our dollar store has them in the candy section. Take a do-over next week if you need too!
I absolutely loved the “story catcher” moniker. It is perfect. I wish I had come up with it.
Good and Plenty—yum . The drink I would have to think about though. I imagine it would be good if you drank enough of them….
And my thoughts on bologna is that it is only decent to eat if it is fried. A big old fat hunk of it fried up, served on a bun with choice of condiments—-now that is the only way I would eat it. Just plain old straight from the container bologna? Yuck.
Story Catcher reminds me of the Dream Weavers they sell in New Mexico–both produce such wonder images. Good and Plenty has a very loyal following.
Just saw NO to Bologna
When is M&M day? I think the pink color is what turns me off Good & Plenties. People just pretend to like Bologna. Love those journals and the story behind them. Put one on my sisters Christmas list. Candy video was fun.

I’m not sure, but I will make sure we have one. I don’t own one of the journals but they would make a special gift.
Don’t eat bologna. Or Good & Plenty. I’m with Liz^ — it’s that awful Pepto Bismol pink color!
I loved EPCOT Center and remember it like it was yesterday (though it was MANY yesterdays ago that I went!) Bet it’s change a bunch since then.
I don’t like the color either. Epcot is fun. We went when Cole was about 8 and he liked it as much or more than Disney. More space, I think. All the Disney parks are fun, tho.
was never punk. not much for bologna. good & plenty was gross. wasn’t there a candy like good & plenty, but with a different filling like cherry or something?
interesting smell & taste research….. nothing i would have guessed!
enjoyed the videos.
Are you thinking of hot tamales? Or maybe you are thinking of Good and Fruity?
I know–who would have ever thought the combination of cucumber and licorice would have a come hither smell.
Ate baloney one time….never again. It is awful. It is all the leftover parts from all animals, I’m sure. Good and plenty s bring back good memories of going to the movies as a teen and eating them..think that is how I got addicted to licorice.
The smell of Good and Plenty always reminds me of the movies. The licorice is very strong! I bet you’re right about the left over animal parts!
I never fixed you a baloney sandwich and I have never eaten baloney either. To me it’s like Spam. Do people really eat Spam? I’ve never had an urge to try either one.

I’ve had baloney. Less than a nothing-mucher. Yes, people eat Spam–there is even a spam museum!
