★~ Did You Know:
♥~ Chewing gum is one of the oldest candies in the world. For thousands of years, people of all cultures have enjoyed the many benefits of chewing various gums, resins and latex secretions of plants.
♥~ The first commercial chewing gum – State of Maine Spruce Gum – was introduced in 1848 by John B. Curtis.
♥~ The first patent for chewing gum was issued in 1869 to William F. Semple, a dentist from Mount Vernon, Ohio (U.S. patent #98,304).
♥~ The very first bubble gum was invented by Frank Henry Fleer in 1906. He called it Blibber-Blubber. Fleer’s recipe was later perfected by Walter Diemer, who called his product Double Bubble.
♥~ The color of the first successful bubble gum was pink, because it was the only color the inventor had left, and that remains the predominant color today.
♥~ Spearmint, peppermint and cinnamon are among the most popular flavors of chewing gum today.
♥~ The largest bubble ever blown was 23 inches in diameter. The record was set July 19, 1994 by Susan Montgomery Williams of Fresno, California. (Guinness Book of World Records 1998).
♥~ The longest gum wrapper chain on record was 7,400 feet in length (nearly one and a half miles) and was made by Cathy Ushler of Redmond, Washington between 1969 and 1992.
♥~ Chewing gum consumption varies by geography. In the U.S., people chew an average of 182 stick equivalents per person per year. In the U.K., the figure is 125 – it’s 103 in Germany, 84 in Russia, 20 in China, and 4 in India.
♥~ Chewing gum can improve memory, say UK psychologists. They found that people who chewed throughout tests of both long-term and short-term memory produced significantly better scores than people who did not.Teachers, who once punished students for chewing gum in the classroom, now using gum as a reward for good behavior, to aid concentration and even to improve test performance.

Please share with me on this fabulous Friday…Does Your Chewing Gum lose it’s flavor on the best post overnight? Odd Loves Company!

As a matter of fact..I have never left my gum on the best post overnight because I do not have a bed post but it would be an interesting experiment.
Love mulled cider.
Happy Friday!
FRIDAY! Yabba Dabba Doo!!!
M-
Beer, Coffee, Hot cider it has been a great beverage week!
I will have to join Mike with an big Yabba Dabba Doo!!! Friday!
Hot cider sounds great as the temperature tomorrow morning is supposed to be 39 degrees here in “Hotlanta”. I chewed gum this morning and blew bubbles…lots and lots of them. Now, I’m about to go to the lake and swing on the tire swing and maybe even slide down the sliding board all while chewing gum and blowing bubbles. What a fun day I have planned for myself. Perhaps I will take a photo and share it with you♥
Oh, forgot to add…the photograph is spectacular! Yabba Dabba Do!!!
BroJoe does outstanding scenic photos — thanks for the link. I remember reading Little Women and enjoying it immensely (of course, I’ve always been a voracious reader!). I remember all of us in high school sneaked chewing gum during Band — it was quite a trick to hold it in your mouth without getting it all hung up on your reed!
The picture is gorgeous!! I miss the beach. Btw, do you know that chewing gum was ban in Singapore? I believe they had change the law on it not long ago, but it was ban for a while. Can you imagine to be an outlaw for chewing a piece of gum?!
When I was in grade school I was known to put my gum on the bed post at night. It couldn’t have had much flavor left in it after chewing it all day, so what the purpose was, I have no idea. I suppose, I didn’t have another stick , so would chew one piece to death. Even though a pack of gum was 5 cents, that was my whole allowance (if I even got one that week). My dad was very stingy in giving out nickels. Of course he didn’t have much and needed to provide for us, so chewing gum wasn’t a priority.
