★~ Tortellini Day:
Tortellini is a signature dish from the Italian region of Bologna. Food is taken so seriously here that Bologna is home to the Learned Order of the Tortellini, which has a formidable membership, all dedicated to the preservation of the tortellini. Members wear red and gold hats shaped like tortellini and gold tortellini necklaces at all their functions. When the Bolognese eat their famous tortellini in brodo, tortellini in “broth,” they remain completely silent until they are finished. Tortellini is the creation of a local cook who dreamt he saw Venus rising from the waves, glimpsed her perfect navel, and, upon waking, rushed into his kitchen to recreate the divine belly-button as a pasta. Hey, that is their story, and I am sticking to it! The most common fillings for tortellini are ham, white meat, and Parmesan cheese. Pesto Tortellini- Half Hour Meals

★~ Did You Know: Lesser known baby animal name.
BABY ALPACA/LLAMA:CRIA
Despite the subtle distinctions between llamas and alpacas with regards to size, strength, and quality/quantity of wool fiber produced from their respective fleeces, both animals can interbreed and successfully produce offspring. Both genetically pure llamas/alpacas and their mixed progeny are called cria in the singular, crias in the plural.
♥~ BABY HARE: LEVERET
A curious fact about hares: Rather than sheltering their newborn young from potential dangers in their environment, a mother hare will leave her offspring behind for long periods of time within an hour of their birth in order to avoid attracting predators to them, returning to provide food at night. The Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton, hoping to curb instances of well-intentioned but ill-informed citizens spontaneously adopting baby hares found in fields, promotes a catchy slogan: “If you see a baby hare, leave it right there!” They may know the correct term is leveret, but it’s much harder to rhyme with it.
♥~ BABY FISH: FRY, FINGERLING
The names for baby fish are memorable for their irony: fry, a common method of preparing the edible varieties for consumption, and fingerling, a type of potato that pairs well as a side. Not suitable for vegetarians.
♥~ BABY HAWK: EYAS
In general, a fledgling hawk taken from its nest within its first year of life, specifically for the purposes of falconry, is called an eyas. In particular, the two baby hawks born in Washington Square Park under the watchful eye of the New York Times HawkCam in 2012 are called Boo and Scout.
♥~ BABY PLATYPUS: PUGGLE
Although there’s some controversy over its unofficial status as a legitimate term for baby platypuses, “puggle” is a term borrowed from baby echidnas and applied to its fellow egg-laying mammale. There is no officially recognized label for platypus babies, but in recent years “platypup” has emerged as a more logical but less memorable alternative
♥~ BABY PIG: SHOAT/FARROW
In addition to the more obvious “boarlet” and “piglet,” baby hogs and boars may also correctly be referred to as shoats (newly weaned pigs) or a farrow (a collective term for a group of young pigs).

Westminister? Never watching that dog show again. Moving along…
This is very cool.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday. If into my life a little sunshine doth fall…I will be so HAPPY.

Odd Loves Company!
Morno,
I like my name so I’ll stick with it. I like Tortellini with a little olive oil and a lot of Parmesan cheese. I buy it fresh at the grocery store.
That video was something.
Enjoy your day!
Glad you liked the video! Your Tortellini recipe is one of my favorites!
Have a good one!
Good Morno!
The Westminister judge sure didn’t come close to picking any of my choses.
Love Tortellini it can be dressed up so many different ways.
Those baby animals are really cute especially the puggle. Loved the video.
Wishing you sunshine in abundance!
I like the puggle…in fact I am thinking of getting my own platypus…He could live in the upstairs bathroom.
Sunshine is shining through my window!! Thanks for the wish!
westminster…….jeez.
i have never liked my name. it seems to be someone’s grandmother’s name. my mom liked it so i guess it’s ok.
tortellini is good eating.
cute animal babies. i’ll probably stay with the names i know for them.
good day!
I know right? My mother was fit to be tied as was I…the Judge for working is a Doberman judge so obviously he did not want to be seen as giving the group to a Doberman despite the fact that she fit her standard to perfection.
The winner? How is that even possible. I would love to hear some of the back room talk on that choice..it won’t be pretty. Dog shows and especially Westminister are political but this year was beyond the beyond.
I did love the Jack tho! Rascal is a Parson’s and if I added another to my pack it would be a Russell Terrier. BUT that is way off in the future.
The greek name Irene means peaceful.
I’m feeling on top of things today. It’s early and I’ve already read el Morno. On the down side, I’ll have nothing to look forward to reading on my late night train ride home.
I couldn’t get that fairy name thing to work – it just installed a game…
I hated my name as a kid, especially in high school. If I could choose any name it would be Pheasant (from the Whiteoaks of Jalna saga).
Didn’t watch any but the last 10 minutes, so can’t comment.
So, have a great day. If you write an el nighto, I’ll read it later!
Opps. Thanks for letting me know. . .I try to make sure all of the links are squeaky clean. It is working for me and I know you use a Mac.
Come back in a bit…I acted on one of your stories that inspired me. Posting now:-D
Joanne means gift from God. But if you really hate it and does not suit you..change it. I have several friends who change there names and are much happier. Something to think about!
P.S.your fairy name is: Bindweed Rainbowwand
Last 10 minutes of Westminster, in case that wasn’t clear 🙂
It was…we speak short hand on Odd. The last 10 minutes were the worst! Outside of the Dobe losing.
Told ya about the Labs & Goldens. It is like the Cubs. Maybe next year!
Yep. The golden was so pretty. Nice coat, pretty head, moved well…Labs are such working dogs it is hard for them to show off.
Westminister sucked this year. All the way around. I would just love to get some inside gossip. I am working on it.
I like my name but it had it’s moments in grade school–Lizzy in a tizzy, Lizzy Bordon. My real name is of-course Elizabeth but I’ve always been Liz.
That shoat is so cute! He looks like he is smiling.
Hope the sun shines all day!
The shoat does look like he smiling!! Liz is a FUN name. I like it.
I have walked around the house today pointing and saying…Da Sun Da Sun!!
Hmmm…I think today I’ll be a “Portia.” Quite regal sounding, “Portia.”
I like it a lot! Very nice.
Since you know I hate my name, can I just refuse to answer today when somebody calls me “Debbie”?? At this point, “Hey You” sounds a whole lot better!
Don’t get me started about Westminster — I’m just livid with the dog they picked. You can tell the entire thing is political. There were some lovely breeds available, yet they went with THAT?! Go figure.
Hope you’ve got sunshine — we do, so I have to take DD for a nice walk.
Yep. Today is your day to ignore any requests that use your name.
Westminister is a mess. People are furious. It is very political. I am sure the gnashing of teeth was terrible ring side.
Lots of sunshine. Rascal and I are getting out a bit too! Enjoy your walk.
El nighto. The link works fine – I just didn’t have my coffee before I tried it I guess.
My fairy name is
Bindweed Rainbowwand
She brings good fortune.
But I still prefer Pheasant. Matt is calling me that today. He’s so nice.
Hope your day was great
That is nice. Glad the link worked. I kept checking it. I hate redirects and flashing sites.
El Nighto Pheasant!
I have always loved the name Catherine..not cathy, just Catherine. Sounds important and regal don’t you think? My fairy name is Nettle Goblinwand and I bring riches and wealth and I can only be seen if the seer is holding a 4 leaf clover.
Catherine is a very pretty name. I have a girl friend from way back that has always been Catherine. It would never even occur to you to call her Cathy. She named her children Emma and Olivia.
Nettie Goblinwand sounds like a great fairy to know!! I am sure I can dig up a four leaf clover!!
