★~ Goddess of Fertility Day:

Fertility

In the ancient times, a few days before the spring equinox, women wishing to conceive would make offerings to the Greek goddess, Aphrodite, and to other gods and goddesses of fertility in celebration of life, fertility, and rebirth. Often referred to as Ostara (after the Norse goddess of fertility), the day was often marked with a “plentiful feast, cleaning, decorating, and exploration.”

Celebrating the Goddess of Fertility Day is not only for those wishing to start or grow a family; it is also for those that want to seed a new project or grow an existing one.

★~ Awkward Moment Day:

I promised you the bunny story last “Awkward Day,” so here it is.

My next-door neighbors had recently purchased a bunny, but I guess it ate through the garden and the flowers because it was kept on leash in their yard. It was well cared for and had shade, but was kind of a sitting bunny for predators. I let my campers out, looked out the window, and noticed that one of my pups was missing. I quickly ran outside, checked the gates, and called her name. She came right back, under the fence from the neighbors’ side—the neighbors with the bunny. I snuck in the neighbors’ side gate to check on the fate of the bunny, and the news was not good. I then had the unfortunate task of knocking on my Polish-speaking neighbors’ door and telling them, with hand gestures, what had happened. As one might expect, there was a lot of drama. After I left my neighbors’ place, I quickly ran across the street and knocked on the door of my Polish-English speaking neighbors (who are also our friends) and asked them to speak to our next-door neighbors on my behalf, to tell them how sorry we were and to offer them some sort of compensation. My Polish friend listened to my story and said, with a fair amount of indignation, “A bunny on a leash? How stupid!” I explained that while I appreciated her support and friendship, that might not be the best approach. We then discussed the importance of the “I’m so, so, so, sorry!” part of the conversation, and she agreed to speak on my behalf. It ended as well as could have been expected. When Joe learned what had happened, he looked at me and said, “Did you have Anna tell them it was pretty stupid to have a bunny on a leash when they lived next to people with dogs?” “No, Joe, I didn’t. I told them we would reinforce our fence.”

★~ It’s Oatmeal Cookie Day!

oatmeal cookies

Oatmeal cookies have been around since the late 1800s. They originated in England, and evolved from the savory oatcake. In the Middle Ages, soldiers carried oatcakes with them in case they needed a quick boost of energy during battle. Although our modern-day version is much sweeter, oatcakes and oatmeal cookies share many of the same ingredients including spices, nuts, and raisins. Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

  1. Morno!
I am first! Of-course that is because you are late but I think we should still count it. Awful but funny story about the Bunny…I sort of agree with Joe and your neighbor but understand just saying sorry and putting pen to checkbook was a better idea. No problem with celebrating awkward day–we have those moments everyday.
I am not a big fan of oatmeal cookies–would rather eat Chocolate chip.
As for fertility, I ordered some seeds for our garden. The end.
Can’t wait to read the glue story. . .
    Have a good one!

    • Consider it counted!! Yep. Sorry was best. Everyone would rather eat Chocolate chip if they were honest. Hope your seeds blossom. The end. 😀
Hope you had a Merry Monday!

  2. I’m speechless over the Bunny incident. I am a bunny-lover from way back (and would have one as a pet, if not for having a herding dog!). Still, what were your neighbors thinking???
Yea, I could actually FEEL Mercury turning away from retrograde this time! In fact, I started feeling it on Friday or so. It’s like everything suddenly started making sense again!
    Happy Monday!

    • Speechless followed denial, and If I had not been pretty certain the “dad” had witnessed the killing…I might have pretended it was a hawk. Not really, but it certainly crossed my mind. Bunnies are cute, but from friends tell me they are a whole lot of work and need a lot more attention than I would have imagined.
Sigh of relief. Mercury has moved on. I know what you mean it has been a long couple of weeks.

    • We lie—you swear to it–and suggest a place to bury the body…which is just one of the many reasons we are so crazy about you.

  3. I had a leash for my bunny but he could get out of it in two seconds flat. I would like to know what kind of leash they had. We have very annoying dogs next door. Maybe I could tell them my bunny ate their dog. Sorry.

    • Maybe this was an exceptionally slow bunny? No matter what anyone says….the bunny was on a leach sunning in his OWN yard. Was it a safe place to sun, well apparently not but nonetheless it was his right and our camper (not one of my dogs) was SO WRONG.

    • in another neighborhood. Do you also remember the time the camper turned and nip a lady on the butt while we were on a walk..and she indigently marched up to Joe and showed him the hole and he asked if she was sure it wasn’t there when she put the pants on that morning? And when she said—very sure…he asked how she knew it was one of our campers since it clearly happened behind her…..? I miss him.
