★~Today’s Quote: Don’t worry about the world coming to an end today. It is already tomorrow in Australia.~ Charles M. Schulz
★~ Pretzel Day:
Not sure what to munch on today? Well, let me give you a hint: Thick or thin? Straight or twisted? Crisp and crunchy, or soft? Salted, unsalted, mustard flavored, perhaps? Yep, it’s Pretzel Day. Pretzels are believed to be the world’s oldest snack, dating back to 610AD in Southern France. Monks baked thin strips of dough into the shape of a child’s arms folded in prayer. Add a little salt, and Voila!…the pretzel industry was born.
★~Hug an Australian Day:
G’day mate! Today we pay tribute to the Ozzie’s in our lives that we know and love. Odd’s Ozzie mascot is Antoinette. If you don’t have an Ozzie to hug today, we’ll share our Ozzie with you… I’m sure Antoinette won’t mind a hug from you. Just leave her one in the comments like this {{{{ }}}}.
★~ Today in History:
♥~ 1819 – The first Odd Fellows lodge in the U.S. was established in Baltimore, Maryland. The official name of the organization is the Independent Order (of) Odd Fellows or IOOF. The main focus of the fraternal order is “to relieve the brethren, bury the dead, and care for the widow and the orphan.” This focus has been broadened through the years to include the principles of friendship, love and truth. The Odd Fellows maintain homes for the aged, the poor, widows and orphans and provide members with financial aid in sickness or death. Membership of the order is more than 1.5 million.
♥~1937 – The publisher of LIFE magazine just about passed out when he looked at his just-off-the-press publication and noticed that someone had forgotten to put the word “LIFE” in the upper left-hand corner! It was the only time that LIFE was nameless. Since hundreds of thousands of copies were already printed, the magazine hit the streets with no name on the cover! The reason? A picture of a rooster would have had an obscured comb if the logotype had been used in the upper left-hand corner as usual.
♥~1941 – The first organ was played at a baseball stadium (Cubs)– in Chicago, IL.
♥~1975 – On top of the Billboard popular music chart was B.J. Thomas, with the longest title ever for a number one song. (Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song was number one for one week.

We’re having Mario Cart Video Game night at our house tonight which means teen boys and lots of snacks. My teen gave up video gaming last summer and sold all his games and consoles to support his VW Bug habit except for his Mario Cart games which remain near and dear to his heart. It’s one of those night when 18 year old boys sit around with one hand holding the video controls and the other hand holding a nacho lamenting back to when they were 13 and care free.
Yesterday’s adventures included shopping for a prom suit. Cole decided his future look includes Hugo Bos and Armani suits. In the meantime we’re looking for a wantabe Hugo Bos or Amrani suit for a lot less money since my teen is still growing. When I inquired about flowers for his date he informed me he would just take her a few “stems of something” unless I have a better idea. I might.
Wishing you a Sunny Saturday!
Odd Loves Company ,
True story—the mascot of Freeport, IL is the pretzel. No joke. We were glad that we moved before Micah and Aaron got into high school..
As for the car video—when were you in Mason City and why did you not stop to see me??? Madness!

Wow. A Pretzel Mascot. What kind of dip was he?
Mason city has crazy drivers? I would have thought slow and steady. Wrong again, I guess.
Always happy to hug and Aussie. Easy to celebrate pretzels. I’ll eat them from the bag but we have a take out place that offers a variety of hot pretzels with dipping sauce that go way beyond good.
Crazy driving. I’ll guess that nobody crosses the street at that intersection.
The only time I am in a suit these days is at a wedding or a funeral. My son likes Hugo Bos and I agreed to foot the bill because I figured I was investing in his job hunting future. He is long past growing, tho.
Playing golf this afternoon and then heading to a barbecue.
But did you see there were people attempting to cross the street? Crazy!!
I think a good suit is a great investment! When he stops growing I am more than willing to help him invest in a James Bond look!
Hope you enjoyed your day and evening.

Cole’s video game night sounds perfect. Bet my Domer would love that (yes, he’s still fond of his video games — his generation just can’t seem to part with them!)
Figures that the first organ played at a baseball stadium would be in Chicago — nobody said we’re not trend-setters!
I’ve already walked Dallas (twice!), so now it’s Debbie-time! Enjoy your Saturday!
Video night was move to next weekend – So I am stuck with rainy day and lots of good snacks. Mmm.
We are trend-setters!!
Hope you enjoyed your Debbie-time!
Love pretzels. Have you tried honey wheat yet?
What the hell was that traffic video? Besides cars, trucks, motorcycles, there were bicyclists & pedestrians in the mix!!! No way.
I like the Before You Speak Think suggestions.

Have fun tonight with the boys!
I have not tried honey wheat but it sound good! And I will, now.
Boys night was rescheduled for next weekend. Guess, I’ll have to eat the snacks.
Traffic reminds me of Rome only worse which I did not think would be possible.
