★~ Today’s Quote: “Kind hearts are the gardens, Kind thoughts are the roots, Kind words are the flowers, Kind deeds are the fruits, Take care of your garden And keep out the weeds, Fill it with sunshine Kind words and kind deeds” ~  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow quotes

★~ May Ray Day:

Celebrating today is easy peesey…just take a moment to celebrate the beginning of warmer outdoor days due to the sun’s longer rays. If it is not warm and the sun is not shining wherever you may be…I prepared a plan B: Just find someone named Ray and say, “Happy May Ray Day, Ray.”

Warning: If you have Coulrophobia (the fear of clowns), please do not celebrate the following day. Odd takes your phobia seriously and would not want to cause you any phobic stress. Please go directly to Devil’s Food Cake Day.

★~Circus Day:

Ringling Brothers Circus performed for the first time on May 19, 1884. I love the circus, especially circus food—like cotton candy!! Pink Cotton Candy. When I was a dumb little kid, the circus came to Roswell, New Mexico and my mom let me ride an elephant in the parking lot. The elephant was advertising that the circus was in town. What was she thinking? She still wonders that, but I loved being on top of that elephant. Celebrate Circus Day by doing a cartwheel, summersault, or pretending to walk a tightrope…or just share a circus memory in the comment section of Odd.

★~Today is Devil’s Food Cake Day:

Its name may be devilish but its taste is heavenly. Devil’s food cake is simply a variety of chocolate cake that uses cocoa, instead of chocolate, and adds a little kick of coffee to shake things up. The best part is, after you stuff yourself with a big piece of Devil’s Food Cake…you can say, “The devil made me eat it!”

Todays SIlly:

With fire alarms blaring at my mom’s apartment complex, she grabbed her favorite bathing suit and ran out.

“A bathing suit?” I said later. “Of all the priceless things in that apartment, that’s what you chose to save?”

“Material things come and go,” she said. “But a one-piece suit that doesn’t make you look fat is impossible to replace.”

#

If you were lucky enough to find the perfect one piece bathing; I could imagine sleeping with it under my pillow, couldn’t you?  Just watching the video the You Tube video of the Human cannon ball made my teeth hurt! I hope it’s one of the higher paying circus jobs!  Cole and I laughed out-loud at the “did you know” about Charlie Chaplin; can you imagine coming in third at a your own look alike contest?

Hope you have a super Thursday! Odd loves company so leave a comment if  you have the time!

  1. I will indeed celebrate Devil’s Food Cake and May Ray Day, but I cannot under any circumstance celebrate that other day.

Happy birthday to Nora Ephron…oh, how you make me laugh and I like to laugh.

And kudos to your mom, she knows what’s important!

    ♥ Diane

    • I love Nora too! I guess as long as you soak up the sun and eat a piece of devil foods cake we can move on past–well you know.

It is such a revelation to me to find so many people who do not like the Big Top!

  2. I love the circus–the clowns, the big cats. the peanuts and cracker jacks (oh wait that is baseball) THE COTTON CANDY. It is so cute when all those clowns get out of that little clown car!
I do worry about the animals being treated well and I hope this continues to be monitored. Very cool that you rode and elephant.

    El Morn to YOU!

  3. Pingback: El Morno Musings: Cole’s Little Heat Engine!

  4. My oldest daughter is going to be 25 this weekend, and she still hates clowns…doesn’t like balloons either!

    I’m a big fan of Nora Ephron…

    Hugs,
    Wendy
