Shrimp Scampi

“Scampi” in Italian actually refers to a kind of shellfish, but in the U.S., it has come to mean a prep for shrimp — heavy on the garlic, lemon juice or wine, and parsley.

Toss some shrimp, butter, wine and garlic in a skillet and celebrate this ohhh so tasty Shrimp Scampi dish!

♥~ 1968 – Hair made its way from Greenwich Village to to the Biltmore Theatre on Broadway. The show certainly opened eyes. It was the first time that actors appeared nude in a Broadway musical. Hair ran for 1,844 shows on and off Broadway. It was even more successful in its London run later. Big songs from the show: Hair (The Cowsills) and Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The 5th Dimension).

♥~ 1985 – George Steinbrenner, owner of the New York Yankees, fired manager Yogi Berra. Berra was canned after only 16 games into the young baseball season. In his place, Steinbrenner brought Billy Martin back … for the fourth time.

It’s a rainy, chill day in Chicago, but other than a few thunderstorms we haven’t been hit with much weather. I enjoy rainy days if they don’t go on for days at a time.

My teen did get the gate posts in the ground before the rain. But first we had to rent the right tool. After hand drilling several holes my teen came inside and showed me his black and blue swollen wrist. Yikes. I inquired if there wasn’t a better tool we could rent for the job and well, yes, there was indeed. Home Depot rented one for $35.00, but he was trying to keep costs down on the project. I told him we would rent the tool and avoid the orthopedic costs. After we rented the tool and he’s successful drilled the holes in under 10 minutes, he told me, “Mom, I think I just found my soul mate.” Good to know.

Isn’t it interesting that women can turn a butter knife into a screw driver, a heal into a hammer, and conquer the world with a pair of tweezers, but every guy needs the “right tool?”

  1. You’ve uncovered one of Nature’s most puzzling facts, Katybeth — why women can make do with whatever’s at hand while men must have the “right tool” to accomplish the same thing. Odd, isn’t it?
I like the recipe for shrimp scampi. I got burned out on shrimp many years ago, but something that sounds this good could win me back!
Sorry you’re suffering through more rain. We got a bunch last night and are expecting more this afternoon, but right now, it’s sunny and lovely!

    • Shrimp Scampi is tasty. Cut the garlic tho if you aren’t a fan,
Rain has been off and on. I really don’t mind it except for the wet paws. I don’t think it is suppose to last through the weekend.

  2. Morno,
    I like Shrimp Scampi.
The right tool makes the chore easier and more efficient. As Cole found out. There is also less wear and tear on heals, and butter knifes. A tweezers is pretty useful and I have one in my tool box.
Doesn’t April rain being May flowers or something like that?
    Have a good one.

    • Sheesh youse guys always stick together.
Yep, April showers are suppose to bring May flowers. We shall see.

  3. Yes, you are on to something, Katybeth. Women are better improvisers. At least, it seems that way to me. Gotta love Shrimp Scampi Day, right?

Sorry to have been away all week. We’ve had friends visiting from the US and have had to do host and introduce thing. I’ve hardly had time to turn on my computer, I fear. Hope you are well, my friend.

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

    • We always miss you but how fun that you had company to enjoy and do things with…I love visitors they motivate me to get out and do and see more!

  4. Those Condors are the ugliest of ugly birds. Guess they have to be to do the clean-up of all the dead things. Got a kick out of those little goslings trying to get up on mom’s back. Guess they must be getting too big to all fit anymore. Cute though. I like shrimp, but not the scampi. Too garlicy for me.

    • They are kind of ugly but they are awesome in the air and someone has to clean-up.
I thought the swans made up for the Condor. So cute tucked under Mama swans wing.

  5. Shrimp Scampi sounds good.
AOL finally got in touch with me about my email always being hijacked. They are going to strentghten their security,–it’s about time!

  6. Shrimp scampi….yummmmm! The rain here is relentless. I could rant about it but I won’t. There was even some of that white stuff mixed in….grrr. I promise I am going to work on the review. I don’t feel too witty lately….

    • Witt comes and goes don’t sweat it. Perhaps the flowers will make up for all the rain. We haven’t had as much as you have tho.

  7. I just had salmon with crab stuffing before tuning in. Shrimp Scampi is good, too.
    Awww…..sweet baby swans with mom!
We need rain. Send some down please!
    Stay dry!

    • Happy to send a little rain to you. Although the mild temps make it kind of nice.
Salmon with crab stuffing sounds so good!
