Rocky our Ice Cream Scoop~Needs Good Home!

by Katybeth Jensen on August 20, 2010

I bought a new Ice Cream Scoop. His name is Scoop.

This is Rocky, our old ice Cream Scoop

Rocky, is a perfectly fine Ice Cream Scoop; for many years he has served us ice cream without complaint. Don’t worry, we won’t make Rocky hit the road. We invited him to live out his retirement in our ice cream scoop drawer.

Its kind of sad. Really. Poor Rocky, lying around growing rusty and stiff.

Wait! I have an idea! Would you like to give Rocky a new home? A home, where he can once again joyfully scoop your favorite ice cream. I’m sure you would be very happy together. Sure, he’s not the more favored “one piece scooper” but he a good scoop!

Just tell me in the comment section, what kind of home you could provide Rocky and I will decide what home he is would be happiest scooping for. I will provide shipping to the right home.

All I ask is…

  • Please call him Rocky.
  • Don’t let the kids use him in the sandbox. The sand will clog his mechanism.
  • It’s not his fault he was left on the counter and not put in the dishwasher. Please don’t yell, or swear at him.
  • Cherish him until he is scooped out and then have a simple thoughtful burial for him;  thanking him for his years of service.

Glad you were in my Odd neighborhood. Feel free to hang around with us any time. Odd Loves Company and odd loves you and you and you!! I would love to hear from you in the comment section of this blog, or on Facebook or Twitter!

He looks so sad…:-(
You could use him for making cupcakes, they are perfect for measuring the batter into the cups.

He is not sad..he is tired. Well, cupcakes might work..we don’t make them all that often…

Rocky looks very nice but Scoop seems to really shine. I think you should keep both. Everyone should have two scoops…just saying.

We need a scoop, but Rocky seems kind of sensitive for my household. You have one kid, I have several. Big responsibility adopting someone else’s scoop. Maybe you should have two. Why not. The new one might not suit you. Let me think about it. ;-)

Your right Rocky is sensitive. Thanks for taking time to really consider if you are the right family for my scoop. :-)

I’m just not sure if Rocky is going to adjust to a new home all that well. A scoop become ver attached to his family. I bet Rocky has been looking forward to his retirement. How do you know he has not been looking forward to hanging out with Tongs, or hot little spatula. He has worked hard…give him a chance at a full retirement.

I like scoop, a one piece scooper has worked really well for us.

Hot little spatula? Tongs? You think Rocky wants to use his retirement to scooping around? Interesting. Very interesting.

Thanks for dropping by Odd.

Tell me what did Rocky do to you? To make you throw him to the curb. I’m sure the problem was not created solely by him. Poor Rocky must hit the Road. Oh no that is my favorite ice cream. I love Rocky.

Not solely the problem?? There is NO PROBLEM. Rocky is loved, will live a happy life with me or a family who could really use him but maybe he should live out his years with me…making cupcakes on occasion.

This gave me a good chuckle! I’m afraid I don’t have a good home for Rocky (God knows, I’m trying to streamline and get rid of some of my well-worn objects) – however – I will share that my kids go through flashlights like their popsicles. (And they’re past the age when they’re using them under the covers in the dark!)

I think there is one remaining functional (not-an-issue-of-batteries) flashlight in the house. The kids named it, and wrote it’s name across the glass lens. Go figure.

Maybe you could just put a hook on the wall and somehow hang Rocky up, or suspend him in a pleasing way as an art installation?

Katybeth,
Face it…you are just going to have to go to the final round with Rocky. Hang him, use him as an cupcake batter scoop, introduce him to hot tongs…whatever, but he is your Rocky forever.
