Mashable’s launched social media day in 2010 as a way to recognize the digital revolution happening right before our eyes. I guess this means you should spend more time on your favorite social media site today.
★~ Handshake Day:
One of the most common greetings between two people—a warm, friendly, firm, handshake. The handshake originally meant, I come in peace, and offered reassurance to the other person that the hands did not conceal any weapons. Today, a handshake is a simple and polite gesture of goodwill, gratitude, affection, and congratulations. The best way to celebrate today is to step out and greet someone with your best handshake.
★~ Meteor Day:
The word “meteor” refers to the visible streak of light produced by fallen debris from space—”meteoroids.” We also call these beautiful sights “shooting stars” or “falling stars.” Tonight, make sure you look up and, if you see a meteor, don’t forget to make a wish.

Cole came home from a movie at about 12:30am last night and called me from the alley to tell me that when he opened the garage a possum ran into the garage. He wanted me to come and get rid of the possum so he could park his car and exit safely. I will be back later to share more….
Have a wonderful Saturday!
Odd Loves Company!
I’m going to skip the float and stick with beer but I will shake a few hands on the golf course. Out of here early–it’s going to be hot.
Possum? I’m sure this will be a good story.
Oh it is…..Beer works on a hot day but I have heard that some people add ice cream to it. Sounds awful but you never know.
Love the Queen’s matching green ensemble — so appropriate for Ireland, don’t you agree?! A possum in your garage — yikes, that’s almost worse than the wasp that got in ours last night! Ice cream again, huh? Works for me, especially in this heat!!
Debbie, what a great observation! I didn’t really think about it when I posted the picture. Very appropriate! Wasp’s aren’t good either! Be mindful. Opossums are very mild mannered.
It could be ice cream float day every day of summer and I would be happy. Fat but happy. Interesting information about handshakes and different cultures. I guess I assumed we all just shook on it.
Rabbit! Rabbit! I am on it!
