★~ Do a Grouch a Favor Day:

Oscar the grouch

One of the best-known grouches of modern history is Oscar, a Muppet character first introduced on “Sesame Street” in 1969. Like all grouches, Oscar’s mission in life is to be as miserable and grumpy as possible. He complains about everything, then wants to pass that feeling on to everyone else. When a visitor knocks on his trash can – invariably interrupting him from a nap or an important task – Oscar greets them with a snarl. He’s a grumpy old fart, always complaining that he wants to be left alone.

Some times the best favor you can do for a grouch is leave them alone to suffer their own company. And sometimes a grouch just needs a hug and a distraction to have a better day.

★~ Almond Day:

Almonds

You will never go hungry again if you stash a handful of heart-healthy almonds in your purse or gym bag.

Almonds are packed full of vitamin E, magnesium, and fiber, and can help lower cholesterol. While they are native to the Middle East and South Asia, the state of California, produces 80% of the world’s supply of almonds.

The crunchy almond can be served roasted with a little sea salt.   Or you can spice them up with cumin and cayenne; enjoy them spicy-sweet in a honey-sesame crust, or cover them with a combination of vanilla, sugar and cinnamon. I like mine cover in chocolate!

Hope everyone is as fine as frog hair today. I’m not sure exactly what the rest of the day will bring, but the first thing on my list is to say YES to donuts.  I must have a donut. Maybe more than one, but less than a dozen.  I hope. Thank goodness a Dunkin Donuts is very close to home.  I would chat longer, but that donut is calling my name so loudly I can not think.

Have a wonderful Sunday. More snow for us.

  1. Sometimes I live with Oscar the Grouch but then I give him a handful of almonds and he cheers right up. Love the 100 year old BFF’s. I hope that I am that lively when I am 100 and have a friend that I can be with like that, too! Happy Morno!

  2. LOVE the BFF video. What cuties. I mean, seriously. That was the funniest damn thing I’ve seen in a long time. Happy Sunday, KatyBeth!

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

  3. The funniest one was the kid and the fishing pole! My God, did that remind me of Cole when he was little.
I live with an old Grouch some times, but then someone will come over and I think, he’s not to bad after all! LOL

    • Did you like the BFF? It was a lot like Cole. Yes, the more I hear the more I think you ended up with a keeper.

  4. Almonds are an excellent snack.
The BFF ladies were funny! Liked your campers stealing the antler from each other, too. Ring around the rosy with the fishing pole & fish was cute.
Went to the farm Nik this morning. It had been a while & needed to get out of dodge. Nik is tired out!
    Good evening!

    • Almonds are great. I like the boast in energy. Those two campers are a lot of fun.
Sounds like you and Nik had a great day. I know what you mean about getting out of dodge!

  5. Loved the article about writers being procrastinators — yes, yes we are. I hadn’t thought too much about the whys and wherefores of this, but the author makes many good points (and toward the bottom, the discussion of our educational system is most enlightening!)

No almonds for me, and I refuse to be grouchy on a sunny day! A doughnut is ALWAYS a good choice — hope you had one for me!

    • That article really resonated with me as well. It’s hard to wrap your head around loving so much and yet it is so hard to sit down and put fingers to key.
Glad we shared the sunshine. I was happy too! After the initial shock.

  6. I have a BFF that I have had for 73 years. We are soul sisters and know each other too well sometimes. She ia always there for me and vice versa. I eat almonds everyday. Have them laying on my kitchen counter and grab some a couple times a day. Just plain with no salt. The pups were cute. Isn’t there more antlers laying around or do they have to share just one.
    P.S. I DON’T WANT ANY MORE SNOW!!!
