Summer

★~  V-J Day:

V-J Day

V-J Day, which stands for “Victory over Japan.” On August 14, 1945, it was announced to the world that Japan had surrendered to the Allies – signifying the end of World War II. This historic milestone is celebrated annually on September 2nd, which commemorates the date of Japan’s formal surrender aboard the U.S.S Missouri.

This holiday goes by several names – Victory Over Japan Day, Victory In The Pacific Day, V-J Day or V-P Day. Which ever name you call it, take a moment today to remember those who fought for this victory. It’s estimated that anywhere from 60 to 80 million people lost their lives during World War II, on both sides of the war.

★~ Blueberry Popsicles Day:

Blueberry Popsicle

The flavorful explosion of sweet blueberries at the end of summer has never tasted better. Include these in your next frozen treat experiment and you’ll be a card-carrying member of the blue tongue society.

Mix these amazing berries up with strawberry lemonade, yogurt, watermelon, banana or lemon and freeze. It’s a cool, crisp crunch of sweetness after a long day and a great way to wind.

And the best part about blueberries is you’ll have a nice antioxidant buzz and power boost to keep you going all weekend long.

Hope everyone had a relaxing Labor Day weekend! Happy September.  Astrologically speaking,  if we leave college football out of the mix, this month should be easy peasey and lacking in drama. A nice way to start a new month and soon a new season.

I’m off to start the week with a Cosco run and, of-course, a Home Depot stop. We hope to add the second layer of soundproofing to the basement ceiling this week. And if we are living the good life, the plumber will show up at some point and fix the downstairs toilet. We did patch the hole in the side of the garage, so I’m no longer worried about critters taking up residence in the attic above the garage. Yep, we’ll be ready when the North Wind Doth blow.

My Odd blog housekeeping will continue throughout the month so don’t be surprised if a few more Odd posts from the past show up during the weeks to come.

And I almost forgot, but I know you’ll be glad I didn’t, Cole and I took a break on Monday and went to “well watch.”  It was riveting. We took a time lapse video for you.  My teen mentioned that he was sorry we didn’t know about the well when his grandparents visited, because he was sure they would have loved well watching with us. He knows them well.

  1. Morno,
Another popsicle day? Guess summer needs a last lick.
Enjoying time away until this upcoming weekend at the lake. Fishing and a little golf. My kids came over the weekend. Nice.
Looks like the well is still well.
    Have a good one.

    • Can we have too many popsicle days? I think not. Sounds like you have some fun planned before summer slips away.

  2. My late uncle was at the formal signing ending WWII; he was in broadcasting back then, and we still have a photo commemorating the occasion. I get chills just looking at it.

Those blueberry popsicles look yummy. Of course, it would be better to enjoy one on a HOT day (today’s merely humid, not really hot).

Sounds as if you have a lot of work ahead of you today. I’ve already done the laundry and the walk; now, maybe I can get back to writing!

    • Wow. Outstanding to have a family member as part of such a historical moment.
It has been hot and muggy but next week we are taking a dive into the 70’s and I’ve heard winter is going to be brutal. So….

  3. Thanks for the heads up. All my kids had popsicles after school. 2 cherry and 2 grape. No blueberry but isn’t grape close enough?
Summer vacation has come to a close and we are back to the grind. It was a wonderful summer but I think my kids were a little ready to head back. Summer days were getting longer and longer.
Love the waltz floor steps. What a fun idea.
I can’t wait for fall and cooler weather. Good luck with the projects

  4. A popsicle does sound good. Maybe I’ll have a dreamsicle instead.
I’m still dragging from last week.

    TTFN
