Moon enters Full Moon phase at 2:57 PM, EDT.This months full moon is called a Sturgeon Moon. Named by the Native American tribes of New England and the Great Lakes because at this time of year Sturgeon fish was very abundant.

★~ Food of the Day:  National Filet Mignon Day

Filet mignon is French for “dainty fillet,” and recognized by its melt in your mouth tenderness. It is sliced from the tenderloin muscle of the steer or heifer and is most often cooked by grilling, broiling or sauteeing.

Today also happens to be the day that Julia Child died, in 2004. She probably would have liked a nice filet mignon with a generous pat of herb butter and a few glasses of wine.

Give a big hand to all the Left Handers you know because today is there day to celebrate and be celebrated. No-one has come up with a definitive reason for WHY some people are left-handed, but about 15% of the population around the world are, and it is thought to be genetic.

♥~ 1948 – Cleveland Indians rookie pitcher Satchel Paige threw his first complete game in the major leagues. He allowed the Chicago White Sox only five hits in the 5-0 shutout.  The rookie pitcher was 42 years old

♥~ 1952: Big Mama Thornton recorded “You Ain’t Nothin’ But A Hound Dog,” almost four years before Elvis did it. In 1953 Big Mama’s version hit #1 on the R&B charts.
