Vanilla might be the most-popular flavor, but chocolate wins the award for being invented first. Italians froze hot chocolate in 1692 and the flavor was born. Here is a scoop on some favorite brands of Chocolate Ice Cream.

Haagen Dazs’ Five Milk Chocolate: Pure milk chocolate is included in this simple ice cream made with only five ingredients. Try  drizzling dark chocolate sauce and crushed peppermint candies on top for a refreshing treat.

Friendly’s Classic Chocolate: This chocolate ice cream is creamy and smooth. Top with toasted marshmallows and graham crackers for a s’more sundae.

Trader Joe’s Ultra Chocolate Ice Cream: This rich and creamy ice cream has a strong dark chocolate flavor. Try it with brandy-soaked cherries and toasted almonds for a rich indulgence.

Turkey Hill’s Dutch Chocolate: This smooth, easy-to-scoop ice cream is a refreshing treat on a hot summer day. Serve it as a sundae with whipped cream and crushed chocolate cookies.

Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate Therapy: This flavor is made with chocolate ice cream, chocolate cookies and swirls of chocolate pudding ice cream.

KVAL-TV Reporter/Fill-In Anchor Chris Liedle took this amazing photo of a storm cloud and rainbow last week in Eugene, Oregon. Chris said he took the shot whilst hiking Spencer Butte, a prominent landmark in Lane County, Oregon, on the southern edge of Eugene, with an elevation of 2,058 feet (627 m). The photo itself was tweeted in response to another ‘rainbow storm cloud’ that was spotted by Victor Gensini in Norfolk, Colorado.

Finger

Well, I am still favored to win the race for the gold, but Cookie took his best shot, yesterday, by leaping out of his bed and nailing my finger with his fang. I wore Ugg boots, jeans and thought my hands were out of reached but his jump and lunge was amazing, And his fang was well aimed towards my finger  His nick name has been upgraded from Little Shit. Use your imagination. Going forward we will wear gloves.  I was angry enough to kill him, but did not want to elevated him to martyr status. Cole will be home in just a couple of hours and he can take his turn.  I washed my “wound” like crazy with soap and water and put neosporin on it. It’s swollen and bruised but I’ll disappointed Cookie by living and trust me he won’t have to last word.

Off to pick up my teen who informed he would be hungry after his long flight and wondered if we could stop on the way home at our favorite breakfast place. I think it can be arranged. I can’t wait to see him and catch up. The sea turtle at the top of his post is from one of his adventures.

Wishing you a super Saturday.

  1. I am happy that you won the fight and yes–gloves are a must. Now that Cole is home you can make him do Cookie duty. I think he should put in his time since he has been off funning around! Great tidbits today!!! Thanks for Odd!

    • Cole has taken over Cookie duty and so far so good. Your most welcome! Stops for stopping by for a vist.

  2. I bet Cole has a ton of beautiful pictures to share. Glad he is home & well fed.
Next up for Cole: CM. Nice battle wound there. Aren’t punctures fun? I know you’ll be prepared since he has shown his best shot.
Am a vanilla ice cream girl, but would take chocolate in an emergency.
    Good day!

      • Wasn’t it a cute whimp goat? I love him. Going through pictures from all the kids. There are a lot of them
Yep, puncture wounds are the worst. They hurt but look like nothing at all. Which is why I showed it before I washed the blood off. 😀
Vanilla ice cream is good too.

  3. Whoa. Take a whip on your next visit to see Cookie or better yet don’t go since he clearly feels you’re intruding. Hope your finger feels better.
I’m sure Cole will have some wonderful stories if he is anything like his Mom.
Chocolate ice cream is good and the You’re Getting Old web site was interesting. I am old.
My shoulder was sore so I took a day off from golf. I’ll be back out there again tomorrow.
    Have a good one.

    • A whip is a fine idea.
Cole’s been telling some pretty good stories. He had a wonderful trip.
Your NOT THAT old. Plus would you rather be on the side of the pie with the people who are not old? I hope your shoulder is much better.

  4. YIKES, that looks awfully painful! I’ll say it again — you’re much nicer than I am. I’d have taken a pistol and a thick club (perhaps a shillelagh!) and dealt with Cookie on a more level playing field!

Yeah, Cole’s coming home. You’re not really going to make him deal with that demon-dog, are you??

Chocolate ice cream is one of my favorites. And I think I was born way too late because I would’ve loved having a pair of saddle shoes!

    • It hurt. Didn’t look as bad as it felt because he punctured instead of ripped. Much better today. I was so angry, I had to walk out of the house lest I crumble the cookie. As I am fond of saying I don’t hit or kick and my pups don’t bite me or jump on me.
Cole often handles Cookie. He does a little better with him than I do and lets face it he is younger and faster.
I hope you had a cone! I’ve seen mature women wearing saddle shoes with pants and it looked nice.

  5. Holy fang. That bite is too much. I hope you gave that monster a swift kick. Take care of that finger.
You know I love Odd and Ends. But now I feel older than usual. Sheesh. Wimpy goat is so cute.
Hope you and Cole had a wonderful catch up breakfast.
